New YouTube App For Windows Phone & S60

Last march YouTube delivered their own native player for our Windows Phone® devices. Although many users prefer to use the built-in application provided directly from HTC, this brought us some nice selection to our devices. Thankfully after a long wait, YouTube has been updated to version 2.4.

Windows Phone 7 XNA Game Shown Off

Engadget has been lucky enough when it comes to Windows Phone 7, but now they got to see a demo of a new 3D XNA game coming to WP7. One of them is called The Harvest, which is a dungeon-type game by Luma Arcade. The second game is called Battle Punks, which is a one-on-one sword fighting Facebook game by Gravity Bear. Development is based on DirectX and can be tested out on a desktop, but emulators will be coming soon. Microsoft has signed up game studios Oberon, Sega, Glu, EA, Popcap, Hudson Entertainment, Namco, Konami.

NFL Mobile Coming To Verizon

For the last few years, we’ve seen NFL Mobile available on most Sprint devices, as well as being the focal point of the Sunday Night Football intro video. Times are changing though. Sprint decided not to renew its contract with the NFL to bring exclusive content to its handsets. A Sprint representative has told PhoneScoop that it didn’t renew the contract because they felt they weren’t getting a good return on their investment. Now its Verizon’s turn!

Opera Mini 5 Beta – No More Java for WinMo

Opera has released a new beta version of its Opera Mini browser. A lot of us tend to use either Opera Mini or Opera Mobile as our primary browser. The big news here though is that you no long need to use Java (and its clunky interface). Opera has rewritten its code to make it a native Windows Mobile app. Opera Mini is supposed to be tighter, faster, and consumes considerably less data than its bigger brother, Opera Mobile.

Microsoft’s First Android App – Microsoft Tag

Microsoft Tag has been around for a while now (although I’ve never seen one in real life). It was the second application available for the iPhone, has been around for Windows Mobile, and also works on J2ME, Blackberry, and Symbian S60 phones. Now its also available for Android phones! Tag is a barcode app where you aim your camera at a tag and get mobile content for videos, music, contact information, maps, social networks, promotions, and more (learn more about it here). Skype For Windows Mobile Discontinued, At Least For Now

Apparently Skype has discontinued their version for Windows Mobile, at least for now.  Their FAQ says they’ve pulled it because they want to offer their new customers a much improved mobile experience, similar to their iPhone app.  Does this mean they will be improving it and releasing a new version down the road?  Perhaps.

Facebook 1.2 Officially In Marketplace

In the first week of February, Facebook 1.1.0.14 from the smartphone Marketplace was pulled by a XDA user and made available to us touchscreen users. Well now Microsoft has made this app officially available for touchscreen devices. The blogosphere is calling it v1.2, but its really 1.1.0.17 on the About screen.

Slacker Radio From T-Mobile HD2 ROM
