  • Sprint & Verizon Touch Pro 2 WM6.5 Causes ‘Sleep Of Death’

    Many of our forum users have reported issues after upgrading to the official Windows Mobile 6.5 release for their Touch Pro 2’s. The one that seems the most common is being referred to as the “Sleep Of Death”. This seems to occur randomly, but what happens is when the phone goes to sleep, after a while, pressing the power button will not turn the screen back on. A soft reset or battery pull usually fixes the issue, but only temporarily. Hopefully bringing this subject to the forefronts of the news, Sprint, Verizon, and HTC will release a fix for everyone.   • Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G To Debut June 4th

    For those of you drooling over the upcoming Sprint Evo 4G Android phone, you don’t have to wait much longer! Sprint has officially announced its availability on June 4th for $199 on contract of course. There’s no mention of required plans to get that price either. Sprint has also announced the ability to do video chat over its 3G and 4G networks, as well as surfing and talking at the same time while on 4G, and HD video capture.

  • Android “Shakes Up” Smartphone Market according to NPD Group

    The leading market research company, The NPD Group, has announced that Android has surpassed Apple’s OS market (primarily being the IPhone) to be now only behind RIM in the mobile market. Based on unit sales to consumers last quarter, the Android operating system moved into second place at 28 percent behind RIM’s OS (at 36 percent) and ahead of Apple’s OS (at 21 percent). So what does this mean now that the grasshopper OS, being popularized for only two years, has surpassed its Apple predecessor which has had a year head start over it. More importantly, what does it mean for “Big Giant” RIM, whom held the market by storm for years now, seeing smaller, younger OSes gobbling up their market share. Tell us your thoughts!     Folks, this one is an EXCLUSIVE, brought to you thanks to an anonymous friend. He was lucky enough to get his hands on the new GPS specific cellphone made by garmin, the GarminFone. It also seems Garmin has done justice by including a series of apps to allow you a better commute. This includes “Flight Status,” a Document Viewer, and the typical phone features in the custom Garmin menu system. According to our tipster, the device is a modified Android device, which has a customized menu system that allows you utilize the built in GPS (Which, unlike Google Maps, does not require a internet connection.) However, it does not neglect exclusive and important internet functions, such as traffic, that you’d normally have to pay for extra on a TomTom or exclusive GPS Device.
