Rumor has it that there will be very few chassis designs available for Windows Phone 7 Series, with only 1 being available at launch. At the big announcement at MWC, Microsoft did say they were going to put more hardware restrictions on the manufacturer. Chassis 1 has a full touchscreen, gigahertz processor, and dedicated graphics acceleration (perhaps without a hardware QWERTY keyboard since that’s in the Chassis 2) and is rumored to be the only version available at launch.
Chassis 2 is rumored to be more like the Palm Treo series, with a dedicated QWERTY keyboard. Chassis 3 is unknown at this point, although speculation is leaning towards a candybar style.

huh?
Basically you will only have 3 choices for how this phone will look… iPhone, no keyboard… Blackerry, with tiny keyboard…. or Touch Pro2, with slide out keyboard…
Im ok with that as long as it is very Touch Pro 2 like… otherwise, Microsoft just made sure I will never buy a WM7 phone…
agreed with the above, i dont want to go back to on screen keyboard..man, i was hoping it was gonna have a slide out as opposed to the berry style. lol guess its more wait and see
Standard sizes will do a lot of good for Windows mobile. It will help developers write for a set of standard resolutions.
They better produce a keyboard slider like the TP2 or I’ll be leaving.
Yea candybar style isnt a slider like the tp2. Need my keyboard.
wow, the ifans hard at it again. it was made pretty clear I thought, that MS wanted a ‘rich’ variety of hardware options. hence why so many manufacture’s. do we really think toshiba would come back to mobile windows with those kind of stipulations…
I hope for Microsoft’s sake Chassis 3 has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like TP2. IF not, I will not being getting a WM7 phone either.
I never thought the day would come where a WINDOW’S phone would be locked down. I really don’t think I’ll be making the jump to 7. 6 or 6.5 til the wheels fall off

I’d still go for the no slide out, I think, but only if it incorporated Swype. Without Swype, or a true qwerty slide out, I guess I’d just wait until someone ports it over to the Touch Pro or TP2.
