Windows Phone 7 Series Becomes Windows Phone 7

I think we can all agree that Windows Phone 7 Series was a mouthful, and most of us referred to it as Windows Phone 7, or WP7 for short. Apparently Microsoft agreed. According to their official Twitter page, they've decided to drop the "Series" from the name. Since they're listening to the users, maybe some other changes will take place before its launched too, like copy & paste!

awesome! this is the change I was looking for. With a cataclysmic change like this, windows phone 7 is going to blow android off the map!
omg. now i am going to buy it !!!
windows sucks, they should just quit making phones.
I had ranted about this last night on the ppg podcast, and I guess they might have been listening
The Evo is taking so much interest away from Windows 7. With the EVO around the corner I’m like, Windows what? Whatever windows has coming out, they are just sooo late in the game its not even funny. They’d really have to reinvent the wheel to pull people away from Iphones and Android and I just don’t see that happening.
for those haters, at least they are listening to some of our complaints. we have to take what we can get for right now. like acer 741 stated, they had better reinvent the wheel in order to compete with crapple’s iPhoney or Android!!!
I love it!!!
Longer names stink
hehe
This is what I’ve been saying for quite a while now.
I’m not going to say I hate WP7 until it actually comes out, and I can EXPERIENCE how good or bad it is.
It might change! And from the looks of things, they might just start to change for the better!
Windows Yawn 7
Hey i might not have to give up SERO now. At least for a little bit of time. Then ill just switch to the evo. I really hate winmo. Winmo makes a great phone like my TP2 crappy. Even with a good custom rom i have to reset my phone every couple hours. Im looking forward to Android. I dont think winmo will win me back unless they can can catch up to Android this year which is almost impossible.
Android feels good all around. Some of the WM 6.5.5 roms are awesome for the TP2, but after a few weeks of use they fall apart. @yankees45us -
ha!!, I knew they are going to change the name, cuz the other way sounds kinda lame, it gives me an appeal of old fashion name, another fail name with the “Series” title… I remember about the Windows Media Player 9 Series… hahaha, what is next… Windows 8 Series or Internet Explorer 9 Series??
Come on Microsoft, don’t lack of imagination
peace out
Where can I find more things on WM7? When is it release? I wonder if my Sprint Touch Pro 2 would get it or it would be dust by then?
@chong67 – pro2 would never get it, hardware isn’t even close to being compatible.
there’s a whole forum on here just for WM7, check it out

From a professional standpoint, with functionality, and technical abilities, Windows Mobile is untouchable (aka HTC Touch Pro 2). The new name holds no meaning for me, however WP7 is their chance to shine in the multimedia market as well. Microsoft needs to get their good name back and have the potential and technical prowess to come out on top
@juicemane –
they should make you stop talking/typing.. much better solution
@ace741 –
first off MS is reinventing the wheel. second they are not late in the game because android came out 2 years after iphone and are doing well. third MS never loses an OS war. fourth, MS didn’t come out with windows mobile for a year or 2 after palm os came out and dominated that market while Palm had nearly 90% of that market.
it’s never too late and judging by what wp7 is like in it’s child stage, it’s already better than anything out there hands down!
@shompec –
good job!
watching the tech news from a site that is highly cynical to everything and thus only reports truth, I highly look forward to WM7, despite there being no devices capable of taking full advantage of it yet. I say just wait for such devices to come out; with things like gaming and GPU support, at least WM7 will scale with technology.
