A Quick Interview with a Windows Phone 7 Developer

Thanks to member darren.wlsn1 here at PPCGeeks for digging up this brief interview taken with Windows Phone 7 developer Vincenzo. Interestingly he has some great answers as to why he chose to develop for WP7. He also shares his thoughts on features and applications of the WP7 platform.  See below the interview Q&A given by wmpoweruser.

1)Have you developed Apps for any other platforms before? If Yes What are they?

No. I developed with Microsoft technologies for the web, I’ve been an ASP.NET web developer until now.

2)Why did you choose WP7 as a platform of your choice?

Because with my background in Microsoft technologies and in c# programming it was easy to develop application for the windows phone platform.

3)Which one do you think as the single most feature you liked in WP7?

From the developer side I think it is the possibility to develop games with XNA as in the X box gaming platform, as a user I think is something completely different and new and not the same phone seen on others competitors

4)Are you satisfied with WP7 Platform development tools?

Yes, every tool is free and frequently updated. Visual Studio is a tool that a Microsoft developer is familiar from many years and it simplifies the developing of an application.

5)What are the Apps you are developing now in WP7?Details on the Apps?

I have developed an application for the TV Epg. This application lets you know which show is on TV the current day and the days after. It has the guide for all Sky channels and channels of DT.

6)In what way Microsoft can improve their WP7 or What does WP7 lacks from?

They can plan to use multitasking and let the developer to access the file system in order to share data with other applications.

7)Future Plans of you?

I’m working on other application to launch next months

Apart from these questions, Other things you want to share with the community?

Think that the iPhone era is ending, an other fierce competitor is arriving.

After reading this brief Q&A what are your thoughts? If you have this kind of experience does this make you want to be a WP7 developer? If it were myself, I’d probably give it a shot. I am impressed with this review but wish it were a bit longer and in more detail. Everyone will probably say the same but huge props to go wmpoweruser for getting a developer to even talk for that long!
