Sprints Kyocera Echo M9300 – Approved by the FCC
Most of us have heard about the Kyocera Echo M9300 smartphone Sprint is going to be releasing sometime this year, although nobody is sure of the date just yet. We can look here on the Sprint site and see all the details and price of $199.99 after MIR (mail-in rebate) with a new 2-year contract though. Sources suggest the official launch date shouldn’t be too far away from now since it’s being heavily advertised on Sprint’s web site and now approved by the FCC.
This device is the first dual-touchscreen smartphone Sprint has. That's the exciting part! Kyocera Echo’s patent-pending “pivot hinge” design enables a compact pocket-friendly single-screen position when closed, and exposes two adjacent 3.5- inch high-resolution touchscreens when opened. The device has customized apps that are optimized for the dual-screen experience and offers four modes of interaction:
· Single-Screen Mode with all the functionality of a single-display touchscreen smartphone
· Simul-Task™ Mode with two of the phone’s seven core apps running concurrently but independently on the device’s dual displays
· Optimized Mode with both displays supporting a single, optimized app with complementary functionality and enhanced usability
· Tablet Mode with one application spread across both screens for a full 4.7-inch viewing area
Specifications:
· 5MP camera with flash, autofocus and 2x digital zoom and 720p HD camcorder
· High-quality video streaming and downloads at 3G speeds
· Media player with 3.5mm stereo headset jack
· Stereo Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
· Digital compass, accelerometer, proximity sensor, light sensor, GPS
· Expandable memory: 8GB microSD card included; supports cards up to 32GB
· 1GHz Snapdragon processor (QSD 8650 Android)
· Dimensions: 115.0 x 56.5 x 17.2mm, Weight: 193g (6.8 oz.)
· Main display: Dual 3.5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreens (800 x 480 pixels or
800 x 960 pixels when opened)
· Removable 1370mAh battery; includes spare battery (1370 mAh) with portable charger that can also tether to the phone as an external power supply
· Memory: 1GB/512MB; 8GB microSD™ included

What more can you ask for? LOL
I think that something like this will be the future of portable phones and tablets but… man, this phone is a hard pill to swallow… At least they could have made it somewhat sexy? Anybody else think its a little uggley?
Anyway, it is a great concept and if SPRINT would have not announced the Arrive this would have been a consideration on my part… Maybe it will be nicer lookin when I actually see it at the store and hold it in my hand…
But I still stand with it being kinda fugly… jejeje
@mapaz04,
I totally agree, for some reason this phone just doesn’t excite me. Maybe because it just seems too gimmicky or reminds me too much of a Nintendo DS. Sprint could’ve done better than this, I hate too see what the battery life is like with those dual screens.
I would still like to give this phone a test drive but considering I have been using a 4G device for the past 8 months or so I don’t know if I could “downgrade” to a slower data network. It probably will aggravate me enough that whatever “Pro” it gives off will be clouded by the lack of 4G.
butt ugly is putting it mildly
No search button turns me off…don’t know about y’all though lol
I just sold my Epic so I have to find a replacement quickly, probably will be the Nexus S 4G or the Evo 3D
gameboy phone…
I really like the idea… problem is, hardware is not there to support such a great idea. Screen much be larger and thinner. Must be 4g…then, it’s sold.
This phone is EPic FAil..
At 1370mAh it is not even enough for one screen.
this phone does not even have a 1500ma battery like the EVO Shift does.
the battery life is not enough to support dual screens on a 1g processor.
even if it came with an1800ma battery, it would not last the day.
This Unit needs an 2200ma battery without exception.
Great concept. Horrible implementation due to already outdated hardware and not to mention, made by Kyocera. Kyocera to me is like the bottom feeder of cell phone makers. I understand they are trying to change that but for the price they are asking, it’s not worth my hard earned dollar, especially with that..that….that miserable thing they call a battery. This phone isn’t for me nor for anyone in my family so I guess I’ll wait for the new itteration of the EVO or something similar.
does any one know how to do a hard reset on this shitty phone
