Sprint CEO’s Bonus Up 18%

If Sprint CEO Dan Hesse hits all of his target goals this year, he'll see a $720,000 (nearly 18%) increase in his bonus. He already makes over $10 million a year, so for him, the 18% probably isn't very much, but its nice either way. Does he deserve it though? That's for you to discuss. While he could see the increased bonus, he has one less responsibility. He no longer has to try to get people to sign up for Clearwire's 4G WiMAX service.
As most of you know, Sprint owns a majority share in Clearwire and is using their WiMAX service for their 4G. All of the other major carriers are going with LTE or HSPA+ as their "4G" technology, which leaves Sprint by themselves with WiMAX. If Sprint is no longer pushing people to use Clearwire's 4G service, it definitely means Clearwire is in trouble.
Do you think Dan Hesse deserves this increased bonus? What do you think about their decision to have him no longer responsible for pushing Clearwire's 4G?

I think he deserves it. They have increased their subscribers YOY.
He is one of the most overpaid CEO’s out there period, but at least he did a good job with turning around their customer service, even though I never had any major issues over the last 9 to 10 years. As far as not pushing wimax service, I think thats a sign that they are further along their LTE plans than they are leading everyone else to believe.
He has turned the company around…..two years ago they seemed to be almost dead imo
Why do CEO’s make more than Presidents of the USA????
Hell no! he doesnt deserve a raise b/c they are still promoting that unlimited data plan for $69.99 which is a lie. Now with the extra $10 data charge they don’t discount that from your employer discount. The only thing that is saving sprint is if verizon caps all of their smartphone plans.
Minus the fact that Sprint is still cheaper even with the $10 data addon?
@Sunsparc,
You sound just like a person who think a company can be greedy as long as its a few dollars cheaper than the competiton not looking at the big picture on how all of a sudden sprint has added so many changes to their operations sooner or later their prices are all going to be the same as others
@mellymelly,
Dont say that mellymelly, even though, that is the course that SPRINT seems to be taking…
I for one DO enjoy the fact that SPRINT is cheaper for me than all others (I have 5 lines, all PPC’s with Unlimited TXT, Data) and I pay WAY WAY cheaper than anywhere else (without the corporate discount added in…). But I hate to think that my “glamour days” are coming to an end…
In an era where SPRINT has the biggest data plans (5GB cap if not mistaken) and cheapest prizes… That is what I want SPRINT to be… but I know with time, they will be just like the competition…
Y would you go and make me think this way??? lol… I cant handle it… SPRINT IS BECOMING… The competition… jejeje
I don’t see why he shouldn’t make the big bucks. A profressional baseball or football player makes twice, even three times as much per year for playing a game.
They should have reduced it 18% when they announced the echo.
He got subscribers but sprint is still in the red..no bonuses should be given when a company is in the red…gaining subscribers means nothing if your still loosing money…
