HTC Arrive – Coming Soon to a Sprint Store Near You!
Today Sprint has announced its own edition of the HTC Pro 7, the HTC Arrive, making them the very first on the WP7 block for the CDMA market.
At $199.99, the HTC Arrive will be available on March 20th for all Sprint Customers on a typical 2-year contract period. It appears it will be on pre-order very soon, and it will end up with a 3G -only service. As opposed to the recent influx of WiMaX phones. We bet it will do pretty well, and perhaps may even bring some Verizon Customers to Sprint over the phone. It's definitely an attempt to sway the tides and gain Sprint some momentum they've already lost greatly since the release of the EVO.
It's pretty much a release of the HTC 7 Pro for the Sprint Market, very much like the Touch Pro and Touch Pro2 in previous years. It should help Sprint especially in the dryer months ahead.

Thats what im talking about, time to upgrade this touch pro 2 from 2009 lol
wen is your contract up? i got my touch pro 2 wen it 1st came out. i might jus upgrade
same here I was checking on a new phone….I might wait for this one
I cannot wait for this. Putting my name on the waiting list at lunch today!
Here we go!!!!! i just hope it works with my sero plan since is a 3g phone
I don’t think it matters now. All data plan upgrades require $10 premium data charge. So I think (don’t quote me) it requires plan change.
im on board, hopefully it has at least 16gb of space. def cannot wait for this
So with the SERO plan at $40, you can get this phone?
I’ll have to pass on this one Sprint. After being on the TP2 for so long, I kinda want something all new. Not just a new OS and processor in a similar body. What’s after this? If it’s 4G and a 4+ inch screen with no keyboard then I’m on it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm.
Im getting this… been waiting for too long… I know is the hardware that many are considering MINIMUM specs now but… Its tried and true to work… I can wait for the next generation processors and such when they release WP7.5 or WP8… jejeje
EXCITED!!! Hope SPRINT does not make us wait a ridiculous amount of time to get it… they annouce today, we get by beginning of March and not… Announce today and get by end of the year… that would kill me
Sorry, I see that its in March 20th… is that not like 4 days after the updates get cut? I dotn remember
im hoping someone ports the OS to the evo so i can dump android and have wp7 on my evo… can’t wait!
if that doesn’t happen i’ll wait for an evo like/size wp7 and the evo is gone!
I don’t think anyone will try to port WP7 to any other phones…. Microsoft’s legal department would be on them like stink on shit.
I hope everyone isn’t running to the stores to purchase this today!!!
I would get it if I could put WINmo 6.5 on it so it would finnally be very fast.
I dont believe Win7 is actually better.
The deal breaker for many will actually be the screen size.
3.8inch minimum and 4″ is ideal.
that would be amazing actually, but the drivers would be difficult.. i’m wondering why no one has tried porting wm 6.5 to evo.
Why would you want to port 6.5 to a wp7 phone or an evo? That defeats the purpose of having a stable and quick os. Its like trying to put mac os on a crappy windows laptop. That is just absurd. Also someone said they don’t think wp7 is better than 6.5, cmon, do some research or at least use wp7 before talking. I was on tp2 before I got the evo and I havent looked back once. That said, i am looking forward to trying wp7 now. Of course I will wait for the update since I require copy/paste on a regular basis. I also can’t wait to try the netflix app. In the end you can’t compare wp7 to win6.5 or android for that matter. Android kills win6.5 in stability and speed not to mention apps. wp7 is getting there and will be able to compete more with android after the update. But they better hurry up.
it’s obvious you never used the hd2 to see how quick wm6.5 really is.
i don’t understand how people blame the OS’s speed when it’s released on crap hardware.
I would get one if the specs were right…
So what are the specs?
Sprint site doesnt say right now :p
SPECS right here:

I dont know though guys, other WP7 phones were selling for $100 and SPRINT still wants to charge 200? Man, I thought they would go 150, dont get me wrong, im still preordering but man, 50 bucks off wouldnt hurt them… maybe even get more sales…
just my 2c
its better than $349 which is what the tp2 originally was selling for
got my TP2 for 199.99 @ launch, dont know about you../
yeah i dont think im buying one… maybe, but only if im really losing my upgrades April 1..
and also Id like to say: I told everyone it wouldnt be named the 7Pro! I also tried to get PPCG to commit to the tip from SPrint Facebook Page about “HUB” and such, but PPCG would run it
now Ive been right about WP7/7Pro-Arrive AND VZW’s iPhone(i broke that over a year early)………. go me! lol
its the TP2 as is should have been made, 2 years ago.. with a different OS… the phone will sell i dont doubt that, but Sprint’s not really doing anything special with this when they couldve..
that proves it man… you must be bored and tatooed… jejeje… j/k
COOL! I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS PHONE! Here is what I found on Sprint’s site: http://now.sprint.com/arrive/?id16=Search%20arrive for pre-orders. You have to get a gift card and go to the store on the 20th of March to order it.
I’m sorry but WP7 is garbage. I like 6.5 better the blocks and advertisements are whack… I’ll stick with my EVO. I loved the TP2… SHame @ WP7
thank you for your childish worthless opinion. this is an article for potential buyers of this device android worshipers and google blowers need not apply.
I hope i wont have to put up with that big a$$ clock from my tp2 days that htc still uses. Give an option to remove that PLZ
Is this phone going to have The HTC Sense.
yes… it’s a tile on the home screen
Well officially the tp2 was 349.99 with a two year contract when it was first released.
This comment was meant for bored a few posts up
Not too impressed. I’m hoping for HTC to put out another 4g phone with a keyboard and front facing camera before the end of the year.
I went to Sprint and reserved mine already. The representative freaked out that my friend and I went to get the $50 gift card and be added to the reserve list. lol. She was totally clueless what to do until I showed her what I printed out from Sprint’s site. She said that the phone will be released on the March 20th and we could pick it up anytime that day
I am so excited and hope this phone is worth the wait, if not, TP2 here I come back again. lol!
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!
IT IS NOT EVEN 4G
YOU CAN NOT ACCESS THE STORAGE SPACE
YOU CAN NOT CUT COPY AND PASTE
BEWARE GUYS!!
it will have the copy and paste feature in it. nice try
no one complained when iphone launched without copy and paste and sold millions.. i wonder why?
oh yeah, because you girls like to point out microsoft when you’re having a little girl tantrum
Copy and Paste — Check. That’s part of this Q1 2011 update pack.
Access Storage — You can’t do this directly on the iPhone either. There are plenty of apps and methods to get to your files. So bottom line– who cares?
4G — I’ll care about this one when I actually have 4G coverage in my area, which probably won’t be until next year. I can wait.
If you want to complain about something– complain about the small screen or the 5MP camera compared to the more modern 8MP options or the 4″ screens.
well at least it shoots HD videos and that’s all that matters
I think I could live without a front facing camera, because I think I honestly wouldn’t use a phone for video chat. I’m not sure why they didn’t go 4g, I wouldn’t care since I don’t have it in my area, but about the time I get a phone like this they would bring it to my area then. I think I like the sound of how the OS works and how it gives immediate home screen notifications and links to the cloud and uses hubs etc… So what about their app stores, will they ever be able to catch up to apple and android? Will they have things like pandora, mint, and other very common apps that you still can’t get through 6.5? Seems like they would have a lot of catching up to do there, but in a lot of ways this OS could definitely have 6.5 beat, and android which seems to just be a copy of winmo 6.5.
I could be wrong, but the copy/paste thing has an update coming out around then to correct that, 16 gig is a ton of storage plus you get 25g free storage on the cloud through the phone and if that isn’t enough for you you are some kind of crazy, the 4g thing, I kind of agree, but with this new os, I’m guessing it is a pretty fast, stable slick working phone but I wouldn’t know for sure.
Actually, you CAN copy and paste. The Arrive will ship with the March update already included which has copy and paste. Try doing doing some research before you TROLL IN ALL CAPS.
Will the $40 SERO cover this plan? Its only 3G.
This is worse than the Echo. I have a TP2 now. I have an upgrade. I don’t want the HTC EVO Shift, its a remake of a TP2. I don’t want a HTC Arrive, it’s a remake of a TP2. How the hell do they expect me to get excited about a mid entry WP7 device?!!??! Everything has a 1GH proc. Whopie. I would love a 4inch or more screen and 4g. Yes, I get 4g, and I want a device with 4g that has WP7. Hey SPRINT! When are all the 4g devices going to … ARRIVE?
just because it doesnt have 3D,4G, proTegras and mockingbirds doesnt mean its a bad device
doh! just noticed no 3.5mm jack on the bottom.
IMO, that was a great location for it; I could plug my phone to my car with the 3.5mm and use it to stream music + make calls, all from inside the center console cubby.
pretty sure I saw some specs on it through sprint on twitter that did say it has a 3.5 jack on it, I didn’t double check but thought I saw that somewhere
hey boomtastic, it does have a 3.5 jack on it. here is a post that mapaz04 added:

lol are you serious?
one thing i find interesting is the signal bar, battery indicator and time are on the home screen.
microsoft said that information would not be indicated on the home screen to give the UI a cleaner look.
oops.. here’s the link of the home screen i mentioned

I am not crazy about this phone at all.
It is just the same as TP2 except captive screen and faster processor.
My TP2 is a world phone and I got 3 GPS program on it. This new phone cant do any of this.
I will wait 6 months and see.
i kept my tp2 because it’s a world phone, evo is limited in that aspect, plus a few more.
there are gps programs for wp7, look on xda
A faster processor is precisely what would have helped the TP2. I absolutely loved my TP2, except how slow it was.
As for GPS, you are simply misinformed on the matter.
Actually, Copy and Paste feature is available on WP7 now… Update was applied on Zune and now available for all WP7 Devices..
Note: takes 45mins to do the update since has to backup your data before applying the update.
I am using LG Quantum, sadly only WP7 device that has QWERTY keyboard.. once HTC 7 Pro is available, going to be switching… HTC is the best.
There is an HTC with keys and 3.8 screen….multiple carriers except for sprint.
I just to have the touch pro, and now the htc evo
The screen in the evo is much bigger we the 4g connection internet is super fast…this phone needs a front camara and 4g connection.
Here is what I received from HTC about HTC Sense on the Sprint Arrive:
Dear Rene,
I would be more than happy to provide you with some insight regarding the HTC Arrive.
Although nothing’s really 100% set in stone, yet, I can imagine that the HTC Arrive would be set up like it’s 7 Pro counterpart. Microsoft has opted to keep their own interface in most (if not all) phones using the Windows Phone 7 (“WP7″) OS, so I’m pretty sure that the default UI would be strictly the WP7 interface. HOWEVER, each HTC WP7 device contains an “HTC Hub” where you can download familiar HTC apps. Since the HTC Hub is still a relatively new feature for Windows phones, the app selection is slightly limited, for now.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us, Rene.

So, it looks like we might have HTC Sense because of MicroHell
the biggest reason for htc sense because sense is great on integrating everything so you have easy access.. wp7 already does that, so the need for the sense plug-in is not necessary.
that makes sense
cool! thanks!
I think that happens when you touch the top of the screen, the icons come down for a moment and then go back up and hide from the screen… I think they did that just to show you the different icons… jejeje
Man, this was meant for itser…

I dont like win phone 7, and not a fan of this particular phone, but what’s the deal with people ragging on NOT having 4g?
How often do you even need 4g?
You’ve got fast internet at home, at work, and when you’re out, 3g is plenty to get directions and minor stuff, so why the need for it? Seems like people are too obsessed with the marketing around this 4g business.
I went to pre-order mine and I did not have to pay anything… The manager just added my name to the list and told me that he would hold my phone March 20…
I thought it was weird and told him of the $50 dollar gift card we are supposed to be buying… he said not to worry about it and guaranteed my phone for that date… I hope they discount my $50 for the “pre-order”… jejeje…
I also asked them about the “other” WP7 phone that is rumored to come out later this year but he did not have an answer for that… I brought up the point that AT&T and TMO both have dropped the sales prices for WP7 and that if that would be the case for this phone. He stated that maybe in 6mo to a year SPRINT may consider dropping the price like it does for most of its phones…
Thought they were not the answers I was looking forward to, they eased my mind for a little and the rest of the time I was dreaming about my ARRIVE anyways… jejeje
(Meant to post this here, posted this on the wrong thread… jejeje)
