New Sprint Phone Coming Feb. 24 — but what is it? ANSWER HTC 7 PRO
UPDATE: Sprint has confirmed that the device is the HTC 7 Pro coming on Thursday! Through twitter they have sent out a message:
"If you could design a brand new phone, what would it have? Ours will have a hub for gaming, music, pictures and video." Thats only one OS in the world and it an't Android! (Although Samsung has been swiping "hubs" for their Galaxy SII Phones...) PPCGeeks expects the next couple days to really heat up on the Sprint Front. How does this make you all feel - any WP7 Lovers around?
So it seems Sprint has tweeted about a new phone coming out February 24th. The big question is what is it? Is it Android, WebOS, Windows Phone 7? Maybe it is an extension onto the wild Evo line, or another Samsung Device....Maybe it is the HTC 7 Pro (Gold_C).
You'll have to excuse us if we tend to think that anytime a carrier says it has a new phone on the way it will be Android. But seeing how around these parts when it rains it pours, we've got a better than average chance of seeing a new Android device announced this Thursday.
But again what will it be? 4G, something with 2 or more screens? How about an Atrix competitor? Tell us PPCGeekers, what would you like to see in the line up for Sprint? Let your words be heard we already know Sprint and others sometimes glance at these sort of stories - maybe we can influence them.

It would be awesome if it was an Atrix competitor. However, I would be surprised if it wasn’t the Pro 7 (Windows Phone).

I would love it if it is a WM7 phone, but I will not hold my breath.
I don’t even want to play this guessing game, but whatever it is I hope it gives sprint more diversity as far as consumer choice goes. On a side note though, you would think sprint would chose their words carefully so they don’t create another kyocera scene. So if they make it a point to say something about this then it better be good, if not then sprint is gonna be in for some seriously tough times ahead.

I hope its not wp7. So far without any updates wp7 is still behind ios and android and even the new palm webos or whatever its called. I would love it for it be an evo2 with dual core chip or even a pre3. I’m looking forward to the udpated webos. Either way I hope its not a stupid announcement like that so called great lg echo phone which no one is going to buy.

WP7 has plenty of apps. and many arent duplicates like those of iOS and Android
Android games are alot cheaper than windows phone.
No apps, “at all,”? Really? 8000 and steadily growing in about 4-5 months it’s been out and you say it has none at all? It’s a faster rise in apps than Android or even iOS. Developers have stated how easy it is to make Apps for WP7. Check your facts man.
MS isnt “taking over” anything from Android and iOS, so id forget that ERIC…. compete, maybe in a year or so, but “take over” its never gonna happen.. lets be real…
CDMA WP7 would be a bigger announcement than a twitter post Id think, since CDMA WP7 paves the way for ALL CDMA Carriers once its announced, not just Sprint.. Mind you CTIA is next month as well… Sprint should have a big announcement for that as well…more likely CDMA WP7 would be shown here than on FEB 24th, again, because CDMA WP7 is bigger than just any 1 carrier… ie AT&T was offical launch partner but TMO still had HD7 right away..
Personally Id like to see something from the Optimus Line: Optimus 2X(Tegra2 two 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU cores and eight GeForce GPU cores, 8mp cam, FFC) or even Optimus 3D ( Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, TI OMAP4430 chipset, dual 5MP cams and well 3D) .. Both of these are definitely a step above EVO, Epic, Atrix, Thunderbolt in the hardware dept.. software is basically same as all are Android… for some reason the display is nothing to really brag about though.. which is odd given Optimus 3D has 1080p 2D and 720p 3D capabilities, youd think the screen would be better…
But I agree with everyone else; whether it be Android, WP7, webOS, dual core, 3D, SPRINT needs a few KILLERS. and they need them NOW!!

I use an EVO, but when wp7 phones hit sprint with no less than a 4″ screen my evo will be on craigslist 1 second after the announcement.
Google is losing in many battles at this time to MS. Bing now owns 30% of the market and google is losing ground quick.. seems tp echo the internet explorer and netscape battle.
google can’t fix many things on the android platform and it seems they’re not even trying. caller id, which is one of the largest problems for my business has never garnered any attention. text messages going to the wrong person has never been fixed since day one. those are 2 very important issues and they do have many more minor issues that don’t receive attention.
i lean towards MS products because they give you much more installed on the device. Since i run a business, i need office like i need my arms and legs. there are apps that work with MS docs but they screw up formatting most of the time.
also it seems that you’re not a person that looks to the future as much as you look at what’s going on today. A company like MS which is THE most innovative company in the world makes apple and google better. the reason why apple and google have better OS’s (not in my opinion) than windows mobile 6.5, because it existed.
the reason mercedes dropped pricing on the c63 is because the bmw m3 exists.. the reason the c63 performance has escalated is because the M3 exists.
when you grow up, you will understand that, until then you will be blowing the folks at google.
by the way, if the hd2 was on sprint, i would never have purchased an evo.. in my opinion, there is not better OS than windows mobile on such a great device.

I would challenge you to list the features WP7 has that Android does not.
I will tell you that my Android phone has just about everything a laptop computer has except a mouse and monitor port because Android is really just a computer Operating system called Linux.
If fact I even have Android for PC in my VMWare collection.
The only way MS is going to catch up is if they make a portable version of the ACTUAL Win7 for use in Pads and Phones.
Just about the only thing that WP7 does that others do not is the XBox live feature which is fine if your a kid with an XBox, Most real gamers don’t have one of those they have (like me) a Tri SLI gaming rig with Hexacore Proc to do my gaming with…
But I am curious as to what you really believe WP7 can do that android can not.

As to some of your plusses you are dead wrong on most.
Google Docs do not corrupt formatting unless you don’t understand how to format things properly.
Outlook syncs just fine with my Device. I have to download a piece of software yes, so do you unless you have Win7Pro or better (home does not come with WMDC!)
I use my exchange server with no issues whatsoever, in fact I have three I interface with, no probs!
So far the only thing you seem to be able to mention that WP7 does is integrate (VIA USB or BLUETOOTH ONLY) with Win7 Desktop.
Can you create an Icon quick launcher screen?
Can you customize the look of the default screen?
Can you run any software available for Linux operating system?
Do any of your units have radios?
can you remote control Servers and Computers?
Can you easily switch off with one press your GPS, WiFi and Data to save battery power?
On your EVO maybe but not your WP7.
And the only reason why Bing has any marketshare at all is because those folks who know nothing about computers don’t know you can change the default search engine in IE!

Well I sync with Outlook every day at scheduled times and don’t have to plug in or turn on Bluetooth or WiFi to do that. I don’t even have to be near it I can be in LasVegas and have my Secretary add a contact to my outlook and it will automatically go into my phone at the next update which I can trigger remotely anytime!
I could go on but since you really have never tried WP7 as an OWNED device it would be pointless to really go any further.

CallerID works fine on my device I don’t know what you are talking about but it’s a nice attempt at making something up to say.
I’m thrilled about WP7 on Sprint, BUT, I need to see the official specs before I give up my EVO. I am not an Android fan, but the hardware can’t be beat, in my opinion. The HTC 7 Pro must have a decent keyboard– not the crap they released with the EVO shift or the Verizon TP2– and it needs a big display. I just can’t go back to sub-4″ displays.
I agree android can seem to get the simple things right. Im so disgusted that there is no one button volume control for calls, text, & media. I have to put each item on vibrate myself on my epic. how F’n retarded.
I really wish that it has a front facing camera! None of the Sprint products has this! How do I do video to video chat?

Hey man, the EVO aint bad… I would not buy it for myself but I bought my wife the EVO and believe it or not, its a pretty nice device to have, handy too with the 4G deal…
Not that I would have one for me but being able to see my wife use it and slowly get into technology (she is not technology savvy) has made me have a different feel for Android (she used to have WM but wm6.x was still confusing to her on her TP2)… She has grown to love android and I have come to cherish it… at least, until I get her onboard with WP7 on SPRINT!!! jejeje

But I cannot knock the EVO… I dont have it stock nor have I ever used it stock so I CANNOT vouch for the “OUT OF THE BOX” EVO… I have always UPGRADED my phones with the latest stuff from here. And this goes for most any phone… If you use what is available here, most of your devices will be FAR SUPERIOR than anything these manufacturers will ever bring out!!! GO DEVSS!!!
