Sprint’s making changes to Premier Program

Are you one of Sprint’s customers who have an individual line costing more than $69.99 per month, or a family plan line costing more than $99.99 per month, before any applied discounts? If so, you are one of those who are in the Premier member program. Several members of this program had questions regarding the recent changes to the program here at PPCGeeks and were here to help confirm, yes they are happening. For better or for worse? You tell us!

This program currently offers yearly upgrades and other discounts to ‘VIP’ customers who have been with Sprint for a long time and have paid higher prices per month on their bills. Recently the program has been tweaked and some customers already don’t seem to happy. This of course came shortly after their announcement to start charging an extra $10 fee on top of the Unlimited Everything plans for 3G and 4G devices starting at the end of this month.

Starting April 1st there will be two different levels of the new program. Customers with individual plans of $69.99 or family plans of $99 will be considered “Premium Silver” leveled members and those with individual plans of $89.99 or family plans $169.99 monthly will be considered “Premium Gold” leveled members.

Here’s the “Premier Gold” catch: Users automatically qualify for Premier’s gold level if they have been a customer of Sprint’s for over 10 years or have an individual monthly plan that retails for $89.99 or more before any applied discounts — $169.99 before discounts for family lines. All other Sprint customers will be given “Premium Silver” status.

According to BGR, Gold members will get all the benefits current Premier members including 25% off the purchase of 2 or more accessories, customer news letters, the ability to upgrade a device after 12 months of service and several other perks. Silver members will enjoy all the same benefits with the exception of the early upgrade option, having to wait the full 22 months to upgrade their devices. Also, those currently enrolled in Premier will not be grandfathered-in to Premier’s gold level program once the changes are implemented in April.

Does this bother you? With the recent changes in Verizon’s upgrade policies this seems kind of similar, although Sprint isn’t taking upgrade discounts away. What do you think now that you know the story? Were you worried it was going to be worse? Let us hear your thoughts.

Thanks Dr.8820!
