Palm to Abandon Windows Mobile….Will Stick With WebOS
Palm's Jon Rubinstein just made it official during their financial results conference call: Palm is only going to develop WebOS devices from now on. So long Windows Mobile Devices:
"Due to importance of WebOS to our overall strategy, we've made the decision to dedicate all future development resources to the evolution of WebOS. Which means that going forward, our roadmap will include only Palm WebOS-based devices."
Does this mean the end of the Treo line? Not necessarily, Rubinstein prefaced the above comment by emphasizing how well the WebOS can fit for business. This may mean we'll soon see a Treo sporting WebOS!

smart move Palm, keep all the focus on WebOS to make it better faster
Too bad. I was definately looking forward to a Windows Mobile device in the form of a Palm Pre. That would be a home run, for sure, and cross market the Palm and Windows people more effectively.
matt
not much of a suprise. i bet they’ll come back lol.
I like what I’ve seen of WebOS. I hope they keep making it better and better!
Most wont like this but palm just like other phone manufacturers and customers see that windows mobile is dying a slow miserable death. Just look at all of these other operating systems steadily improving and adding better features and content with over the air updates so soon/often. Then look at microsoft with windows mobile/phone… Same old stagnate bs with sugar on top. The real reason its taking so long for windows phone 7 is because right when they think they’ve caught up, htc, apple, palm, rim, google and so forth updates or releases something that puts microsoft behind all over again. Just tell me how can u create great software without out your own hardware to run it on and expect something revolutionary!? Think about all of the new OS’s that are out here now. Each one has/had a specific piece of hardware when they were released.Look i know that at a time i loved windows but microsoft has become lazy copycats. Its just my opinion i enjoyed it while it lasted but i see no reason in buying all these expensive SLOW pocket pcs running windows when i can get more in some ways and pay hundreds of dollars less.
