Letter from Dan Hesse to one of our Sprint users

If you haven’t gotten this letter already, it’s probably on its way to your mailbox now. Thanks to a user here at PPCGeeks we get to share with those of you who may not have it exactly what it says. As we stated in a previous article, the buyout may not go through with AT&T and T-Mobile. Either way, it’s interesting to see what Dan Hesse really to say.

See the letter below:

Team,

Earlier today, Sprint formally announced that we will vehemently oppose the proposed transaction between AT&T and T-Mobile announced last week. It will be a long battle, but one I look forward to. Most favor AT&T with its size and resources in this process, but like underdogs Virginia Commonwealth and Butler in this past weekend’s NCAA basketball tournament, we have a lot of fight, and we can win.

We have so many things to be proud of at Sprint. We are the wireless company that brought the nation its first 4G services and handsets. We are the only company committed to providing customers simplicity and value with unlimited pricing. We are innovators, game changers, and fierce challengers who thrive on competition.

An acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T would create a wireless duopoly, where too much of the postpaid market is controlled by only two very large players – AT&T and Verizon. A combined AT&T/T-Mobile could stifle innovation, drive up prices and limit consumer choice. No one – save the shareholders at AT&T and T-Mobile – stands to gain if this transaction is approved.

We are prepared for this fight. We are seeking nothing less than outright refusals by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission to approve the proposed deal.

At this point, I am asking only one thing from you – focus more intensely than ever in serving our customers and winning in the marketplace. We have worked too hard and come too far to let this proposed acquisition distract us from our mission. In fact, by creating uncertainty for wireless consumers, this transaction could distract our competition. Let’s take advantage of it.

The regulatory review is expected to take the DOJ and FCC 12 months – maybe more. During this time you will hear regular updates on our actions to oppose the merger from Vonya McCann, senior vice president – Government Affairs. Vonya is spearheading our efforts to ensure this deal is stopped – the only result in the best interests of the American consumer. We will provide regular and frequent communications on i-Connect to keep you updated as developments unfold.

I am more than ready for this fight. And I couldn’t ask for a better team to take it on with me.

Dan
