Microsoft to “Loosen” Up on the Mobile Home Front!

OK so we all know Microsoft has been a stickler for allowing access to their new Windows Phone 7 OS. But that seems to be changing… Steve Ballmer [Microsoft Chief Executive] will give greater details at the Mobile World Congress this year. But until then I have the rumors that help feed the fire, and who knows, maybe Microsoft is watching and listening to us geekers!.

Microsoft will unveil a second update to Windows Phone 7 in February, cracking open the operating system in an effor to put it on par with rivals. Winrumors reported:

“Microsoft’s second update will introduce enhanced developer controls for applications. Microsoft is expected to open up several new APIs that will allow for greater multi-tasking, in-app downloads and better customization for end users.”

A first update is already planned – we all know that. It should be out in time for the CES this month, which should introduce Copy and Paste like Microsoft has promised from day one. But with that all coming about Microsoft also needs to recognize that Windows Phone 7 needs to be modernized to capture ample market share against the iPhone and Android devices. One way to do this is allow us to modify (with regulation) the OS. This could mean to allow developers better multi-tasking ability and to allow us access to the local database on the phone…

Now on to something that I just laugh at…Some people are telling Microsoft that if the sales numbers are not great to pull the plug on WIndows Phone 7… Now let me lay this out as I see it.. 1. Microsoft pulls the plug on this OS it is the death of Microsoft EVER coming back to Mobile world. 2. For Microsoft to pull the plug on it now would mean that their idea was a flop and lets face it Microsoft will make it this OS work – no matter the cost! I mean look at the ads on T.V.. One thing to note is that we are only seeing what Windows Phone 7 is like on two carriers here in the USA on 12 devices… What a game changer could be when it is released on CDMA to Sprint and Verizon. I bet we will see a surge of Windows Phone 7’s specially if they make good devices for CDMA.

What are your thought PPCGeeks? Is this all fine and dandy, or is there more in line for Windows Phone 7? What would make you want a Windows Phone 7? Yeah I knwo I will get negitive feedback and slammed for being a Microsoft fan boy, but I believe that they have a better product out there right now. What is it to you that would make Windows Phone 7 just “pop” in your eyes. Tell us below in the comments! Again we never know who is listening to us here at PPCGeeks.com
