PPCG Review: G-Profile by ageye

It’s not very often that an application truly improves your phone and makes your life easier. However, a week ago I stumbled across something that does exactly that. G-Profile, an application by German developer ageye, is a profile management utility (as the name suggests) which allows you to configure actions and states for you device when conditions are met. For example, you can configure G-Profile to set your ringer to vibrate automatically during an appointment. But the options don’t just stop there! G-Profile has an impressive number of options which can satisfy basically any need. Ageye.de outlines some of what is available:
• change the system and ringer volume
• enable or disable wifi, bluetooth, phone or data calls
• launch or close programs
• remind you about unread messages or missed calls
• change the settings of your notifications (e.g. sounds for incoming calls or new text message)
• filter your calls
• adjust the backlight (this works currently only on some HTC devices)

What is even more impressive is that you can configure conditions for each profile to be activated. I tested some fairly complex series of conditions, and they worked flawlessly. Here are 2 of my favorite profiles:

If: headphone connection is detected and phone is being charged
Then: set volume to 100%, run pocketplayer.exe, play playlist 1, set backlight to automatic, kill wmp.exe

If: within range of cellular tower with ID xxx
Then: activate WiFi, set ringer to 50%, set backlight to 100%.

The possibilities are endless, meaning you can automate nearly any action on your device. G-Profile also boasts an impressive, intuitive, and attractive user interface, something that sets all applications by ageye apart. The user interface allows for easy configuration of the program, meaning you do not need to spend hours on your phone setting up G-Profile. View the screenshots to see just how great the application looks.

Other developers and software companies would charge an arm and a leg for programs without as many features as G-Profile. However, ageye has placed an incredibly reasonable price on his software. G-Profile is available for €4.99, or roughly $7.15 USD. Along with the program comes direct support from the developer himself who actively listens to suggestions, resolves issues, and monitors the forums.

I asked the developer, ageye, about what he has in store for the next updates to G-Profile. Here is what he is anticipating:
– Possibility to completely disable data connections, not only to
disconnect the current connection. (extremely useful if you are outside
of the country)
– WiFi based conditions (when you’re logged in to a specific network)
– Conditions based on the battery level
– Conditions based on roaming

All in all, this application is now on my list of indispensable programs. Packed with many features, featuring an intuitive interface, and backed by personal support, G-Profile can satisfy the needs of any Windows Mobile user.
