Microsoft aims to compete with Google Android with its tablet-friendly Windows 8. Android has gained huge success in both smartphone and tablet markets. Though Microsoft’s other major rival Apple is also there, Windows 8 is set to compete with Android in a Google style device. Microsoft has tied up with almost all Android product makers including the majors like Samsung, HTC, ASUS, Acer, ZTE, Dell and others to build hardware solution for Windows 8. In addition, Microsoft has announced an exclusive Windows 8 App Store, which will accept open source third party apps too.
What are your thoughts? Could Microsoft take the tablet market by storm? Or is it too little too late?

Might not be too late but i am not a fan of what windows 8 is shaping up to be.
Never too late as fixer said. I hope to see Windows phone and tablets really take off. Nothing better than more competition for all of us customers. It will make all products better in the long run!
if its a locked down as W7 it will be a big fail
@Karl,
Agreed karl and im tired of metro being pushed down our throats. It has no business on a desktop pc or laptop.
@Karl, I dont mind the UI at all, but limitation is the one thing I cant stand on my handset. WM had such an intuitive menu system (inside a program, that is), it’s a shame to see microsoft deviate from it.
No native file explorer? WTF M$?
I believe too little too late. M$ rested on their previous success with WM and now trying to play “catch up”.
Its never too late in the technology world. People said the same things back when the original Xbox was released and it did have a following so strong that Sony felt threatened and decided to have some games as exclusives to prevent them from getting to the Xbox which helped them keep their #1 position in the 6th Gen. This tactic did not work in the current 7th Gen as the 360 hopds the dominant position. Since version 8 will be the beginning of the true 3 screen or more approach I can see this taking off in a similar fashion.
