The Sprint ZTE Peel Officially Announced
Some of you may have already seen this but Sprint recently announced the ZTE Peel for the iPod touch will be arriving on November 14th, 2010. A data plan of $30 is still going to be required for access to the 3G network while using the ZTE Peel. Read on to learn more about the ZTE Peel.
What is the ZTE Peel? Sprint customers can attach the ZTE PEEL to their Apple iPod touch and then connect to Sprint's 3G network. ZTE PEEL is a device that cradles second and third generation iPod touch's with a case-like form factor. Having universal Wi-Fi compatibility with support for up to two Wi-Fi enabled devices, iPod touch users will have a anywhere, anytime Internet connection that removes the reliance on a Wi-Fi hotspot for a data connection. Customers simply slide their iPod touch (touch-screen face out) into ZTE PEEL, press down on both sides until it clicks into place, and then press the power button located on the back of ZTE PEEL to connect to Sprint's 3G network. That simple! Cool isn't it?
According to Sprint, ZTE PEEL will be available beginning Sunday, November 14, through Sprint retail stores and direct ship sales channels, including Web sales (www.sprint.com) and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1) for $79.99 (taxes excluded). The ZTE PEEL $29.99 monthly service plan from Sprint allows up to 1GB of 3G data on the Sprint network (taxes and surcharges excluded) with no annual contract required.
Does this interest you if you are an iPod owner and have Sprint service on your mobile device? We are curious to know who will try this and when you do how well it works. Let us know!

I think that the 1GB limit will effectively kill this product right out of the gate.
I’ll stick to wmwifirouter giving my Ipod Touch internet wherever I go.
Can’t figure out what Sprint is trying to do here! $30/mo for 1GB and Touch 2G/3G (not 4G)? I tend to think this is also DOA.
Good idea, to expensive though. Might be for people that have less technical knowledge than most ppc forum members.
O.a.T.
Its quite simple, you see Touch 4G is a different technology so you would be required to pay an extra $10 mo. on the top of the $30.
@PocketforAll -Please tell me you didnt just say that -.- just to give you the benefit of the doubt whats really new in the ipod 4 other then ritna and cams? (Hardware wise) that would cause sprint to charge an extra 10$? you are aware that the iPod touch 4 has no 4G right? so it wouldn’t require an extra 10$ as the human torch would say……….FLAME ON!
@PhyscoAssassinx –
I think you missed the Sarcasm. I.E. Evo/Epic= $10 more/month for the same service.
this is for people who have knowledge of technology
@elpeso23 – no knowledge
This is a somewhat cool idea but still don’t think this will be a success. Not to mention, does this thing cover the camera that comes on the new touch version. If so its for sure to be DOA soon.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I use 3GB on my Evo every month easily! I love my Evo!
Great Idea just too expensive. I have wmwifirouter that my cousin told me about and I use it with my brand new 64gb iPod Touch 4 so I won’t be getting this with Sprint. I like the idea of having anywhere anytime internet access. I think it is worth the hassle setting up wmwifirouter each time through my HTC Touch Pro 2 to get access if that means I can save $30 big ones each month.

I use about 20GB
Wow what a joke! 30 bucks for a single gig of data! Sprint can take it up the effing butt. it’s supper stupid WOW just WOW! flabbergasted that’s how I feel… flabbergasted and ashamed for Sprint and a horrible product with a high price tag supporting last gen hardware… I mean most people don’t use that much mobile bandwidth my peak being ~400ish megs on my Evo. While at home I can do 300gb a couple of days to a week… But still 1gb of data should be half that price at most!

in one word “SHAMEFUL!” with head shaking
