Android phones sweep Consumer Reports ratings

Did you know that Android is rated the best by Consumer Reports? You may now be asking how/why. Their scores are based on several different factors. They rated the phones based on display quality, voice quality, ability to navigate the phone, web browsing, battery life, camera, and more. They then came up with an numeric ranking for each phone, and listed them by carrier. Android managed to win almost all the slots while the Iphone 3GS is stuck in sixth place. Keep reading to find out why the IPhone 4 isn’t listed.

Now it’s time for the breakdown of the top ten phones:

#1 )Samsung Captivate -76

#2 )Samsung Vibrant -76

#3 )Droid X -75

#4 )Droid 2 -75

#5 )HTC EVO 4G -74

#6 )Apple iPhone 3G S -74

#7 )HTC Aria -74

#8 )HTC Droid Incredible -73

#9 )LG Ally -72

#10 )HTC myTouch 3G Slide -72

If you’ll notice the numbers to the side of each rank, some of these are the same. This means that more than one device received the same score so really these are tied. For example, with Verizon the top four phones are Android with the top rating being the Droid X, followed by the Droid 2, HTC Incredible, and LG Ally.

The Iphone 4 lovers are curious to know why this device isn’t listed I’m sure. I can explain. Consumer Reports still will not even recommend buying the iPhone 4. They say “The iPhone 4 is a fine performer, however in our tests weve found that if you touch a gap on the phone’s lower left side, you could lose your connection. Apple says to call customer service to request a free bumper to alleviate the problem.”

Although some reports show that this issue has been taken care of, Consumer Reports doesn’t seem to beleive it. What do you think about the Iphone 4 being left out of the loop? Should it be considered? Did the issues all get fixed? Let us know your thoughts!

Are you surprised to see these results? I don’t think you will be as I definitely wasn’t. I think Android is very successful and reports like these just help prove their success. Of course we all have our own opinion though so I’d like to hear yours. Discuss!
