Verizon Increasing ETF For “Advanced Devices”
![]() |
The folks over at BGR have confirmed that Verizon has plans to increase the Early Termination Fee on "advanced devices" from $175 to up to $350 starting November 15th. For every month of service completed, the fee will drop by $10. There's been no definition of what they consider an "advanced device", but we're guessing it will include all (or most) smartphones (Blackberry, WinMo, Android, etc). Source: BGR (Thanks Brian) |

Way to nickel and dime us VZ. Never cease to amaze me!
test
Wow, VZ should change their biz name to cut-throat Wireless.
Doubleboo.
This is true, just confirmed it through a friend at the Verizon store. Wording was odd so it is up in the air if the 350dollar charge will be for only new customers and people just upgrading to smart phones for the first time or all upgrades.
Also played with the htc Eris and it is nice, very similiar to the hero but felt thinner and just looked awesome.
ROFLMAO @ VZ
Doesn’t make sense.. If they stick you with a $350 ETF and decrease it by $10 a month and your contract is for 24 months it doesn’t add up to $350.. What on earth will happen to the other $110 if you decide to leave VZ? They’ll bill you for fulfilling your contract anyway?
vz users should consider heavily jumping ship before it’s too late…man that sucks. gouging the data users with ms exchange fees, now this…
does this count as a significant change to our contracts in which we can escape with no ETF legally?
Ha, Its all about that dollar not keeping customers. Now they will sell more account to collection agencies who for some reason think if customers hadnt paid by now they will still pay….Sprint Yes I Am !
They know that their plans are way over priced to begin with, and their phone for the most part are mediocre. This is their attempt to try to get people to stop switching over to other networks that have better phone with cheaper plans…
