UPDATE:

The Samsung Droid Charge, yes that’s the official name of the “un-named Samsung 4G smartphone” everyone was curious about since first seeing it at CES. This device is expected to carry a minimum advertised price of $299.99.

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 (ADR6350) is a going to be a world edition with a front facing camera . This device is expected to be priced at $199.99.

The LG Revolution (VS910) is definitely a 4G LTE smartphone and is said to be priced at $249.99.

Finally, the Motorola DROID X 2 (MB870) will be priced at $199.99 and yes it is taking the place of the DROID X on Verizon’s lineup currently.

END OF UPDATE:

Looking at the image above you can tell that Verizon Wireless has several 4G devices being released starting today. Their 4G Novatel USB 551L modem and the Samsung 4G SCH-LC11 Mobile Hotspot are both now available for only $99.99 online with a new two year contract. But wait, there are many more devices other than internet modems coming your way.

If you aren’t interested in the Thunderbolt which is the only 4G LTE smartphone Verizon currently offers, just be patient. They will have more rolling out soon as you can see by the dates in the image. Keep in mind though, the dates are subject to change and this is only tipped information from the source. Nothing is official unless you see it come from Verizon Wireless themselves. For now we can enjoy what’s expected though right?

Basically what the leak says is this: Verizon Wireless will release an Android powered, 4G Casio Commando and the 4G Samsung Droid Charge on April 7th, 2011. The following week they are rumored to launch the Sony Xperia PLAY and the Windows Phone 7 HTC Trophy. Continuing on to April 28th, the rumors suggest the HTC DROID Incredible 2 may also be available. In May they say we can expect several more 4G phones, including the LG Revolution, Motorola BIONIC, Motorola DROID X2, and Samsung Galaxy 2 (presumably the Galaxy S 2).

Although these aren’t Verizon documents in the image we do see some of the dates are true, hence the mobile hotspot and USB device that are available today as the image suggests. With that being said, what do you think about the upcoming devices? We wrote about a few of them here and would love to have your feedback once again now that the time is closer. Let us know your thoughts.

If you didn’t notice, the image suggests that this device is carrying the new Adreno 220 GPU. Normally, that means it’s going to be paired with twin twin processing units. The image also suggests this device will be running on Android Gingerbread 2.3.2. Sounds good doesn’t it, or does it? Let us know what you think!

A new, HTC buttonless device has been denied it’s right to be kept a secret. Images have been taken and spread around the web like a wildfire. We can tell it’s a touchscreen device with, what looks like, no front facing camera. The image below shows a dual-LED flash, reminds me of the Incredible. What about you?

We don’t have details on exactly what this will be called but we can start guessing can’t we. What do you think it is? Doesn’t it remind you of the Incredible? Do you think this is the actual Incredible HD? Let us know what you think in the comments box below.

Not only does Sprint have a special announcement coming in February, now HP has something up their sleeve as well. February 9, 2011 at their WebOS event in San Francisco many of us suspect they are going to announce several products, including tablets. Maybe they will officially announce the Topaz or the Opal, two tablets Engadget previously mentioned here.

What’s exciting about the announcement? The email HP sent to attendees asks them to ‘Think Big. Think Small. Think Beyond.’ What do you think about that? It tells me they have a big secret in store! What do you think it could be? What all products do you think HP may have coming up? What sort of announcement do you want to hear? Let us know your thoughts.

Once the announcement is given believe we will be back telling you all about it! For now, discuss in the comment box below.

Here are two possible “facts” that I have found about Windows Mobile 7. I found the first while looking at a slide entitled “Personalizing Mobile Technology To Enhance Learning And Organizational Skills” and it indicates that Windows Mobile 7 will support gesture control via it’s front-facing camera. The presenter of the slide, a Mr. Neil Milliken, is the Head of Mobile Development of a British company, so he may well have this high-level information handy.

If you remember a while back, the ‘required specs‘ that Windows Mobile 7 purportedly has includes an optional 2nd camera under the Peripherals. This could foretell hand gestures being able to control the device, as opposed to just hand and vocal interaction and would put Microsoft ahead of Google and Apple in user interaction, as the iPhone and Android OS only support voice and mult-touch input.

The second finding is of a resume I found. In it, it states that-

• Enablement and bring up of Windows Mobile 7 (for Smart phones) on chipsets with the scorpion processor, which have ARMv7 architecture.

Again, pointing back to the leaked spec sheet for Windows Mobile 7, it states that it will run on ARM v6+ chipsets and above, which would mean ARMv7 is a viable solution for WM 7. Looking at the information ARM provides about it’s ARMv7 processor, it is below the performance of the all-conquering ARMv8 processor, but does “includes the NEON technology extensions to increase DSP and media processing throughput by up to 400 percent, and offers improved floating point support to address the needs of next generation 3D graphics and games physics, as well as traditional embedded control applications.” This could be an indicator of a lower rung of WM 7 devices, such as a business-oriented device that does not require the HD-level graphics support ARMv8 includes.

As the MWC inches closer, expect to hear a lot more news, rumors, and analysis by your PPCGN news staff about Windows Mobile 7!

It appears that Telus may be launching a GSM version of the HTC Touch Pro2, with support for their GSM 3G bands. The Touch Pro2 that they currently have on the market is a CDMA version, much like the Sprint or Verizon version. The new GSM version will probably support all 3G GSM bands that the carrier recently brought online. If this is true, then the new device should have Video Calling, Crystal Talk and Straight-Talk (5-way phone conference).Until actual proof is ascertained, it is but a rumor.
