One of the main reasons people flocked to get a 4S was the introduction of Siri, a personal assistant and amazing voice recognition agent that has not been successfully emulated and is the envoy of the other phone operating systems at the moment. Siri can perform hundreds of tasks by voice activation and even responds with witty remarks should you get creative with your voice commands.

Now, thanks to the iTweakers, you can now change Siri’s accent in a number of ways, using the app AnyVoice.

Some of the accents sound better than others, so try them out and see which one sounds best for you!

The app requires that you be jailbroken and is accessed via Cydia. Just search for AnyVoice, install it, and there you have it! If you would like to learn how to jailbreak your device, head over to our iPhone forums.

Thanks to tipster Agent0Hibachi inside our forum we have now learned that some hackers have cracked Siri to work on any device. A group of hackers from Applidium posted a story explaining how they were able to hack Siri to run on any device. Seems Siri uses TCP to communicate back to a server 17.174.4.4 using port 443 (SSL). From a desktop the group realized that the IP address resolved back to a Apple server named “guzzoni.apple.com”. From here the group was able to create a fake guzzoni.apple.com address and tricked Siri into sending commands there instead of Apple’s own server. In the process the group learned that every time you send a command to siri it sends a date and timestamp back to the Apple server. To get the program to run on any device you will need to have one iPhone 4S identifier and some coding know-how. The group of hackers published some tools for future developers to create Siri-enabled applications and have encouraged fellow hacker to continue and see what they can develop.

“Siri one of the mosted talked about features on the new iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Siri being purely software has limited this feature to the iPhone 4S. Other supported devices are able to upgrade to iOS 5, but Siri will not be included in the upgrade but as we know anything is possible or hackable for some of us and this day has came.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has managed to get Siri to run on iPhone 4 and fourth generation iPod Touch (uses the same A4 chip as iPhone 4, but has only 256MB of RAM). Throughton-Smith says Siri runs just as fast and smooth on the iPhone 4 as it does the iPhone 4S. The iPod Touch has some problems due to the inferior microphone (iPod Touch wasn’t designed for calling like iPhone), requiring you to talk very loudly but the actual Siri software runs flawlessly. Below is a video of Siri running on the iPod Touch.

Owners of iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G shouldn’t get too excited though, as Troughton-Smith says a public release should not be expected anytime soon. There may also be legal issues of distributing Apple’s code, making a public release impossible
