According to our latest news update from our Samsung tipster, there has not yet been a date determined for the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Samsung Fascinate, other than coming soon.  However, a new MR2 push will begin being sent out 1/14 – 1/26 that will offer the following enhancements:

Updated versions of preloaded applications, including:

  • V CAST videos
  • City ID
  • VZ Navigator
  • Amazon Kindle

Improvements

  • Ability to change the reminder time and alert tone for calendar events
  • Better update consistency of the feed and widgets
  • Music now pauses if the user unplugs their wired headset or turns off their Bluetooth headset.
  • Improved standalone GPS performance
  • Increased security by hiding the 3G Mobile Hotspot password while the user is typing
  • Ability to open any PDF attachments sent in an email.
  • Ability to use special characters in corporate email passwords
  • Enhanced backlight display for the bottom four buttons on the device will now follow the device display timer setting.
  • Widgets now refresh based on the defined refresh time interval.
  • If already in a locked state, the device will now remain locked when it is placed in the desk dock or car dock.

We already knew a version of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy was coming to every major US carrier this summer. Its already been announced as the Vibrant on T-Mobile and will be available on July 21st (now rumored to be the 15th). Now, At&t has officially announced their version, the Samsung Captivate, available July 18th. It will be available for $199.99 with a 2-year contract or $349.99 with no contract. Now that official dates are out for the two major GSM carriers, we’re just waiting for official dates from the two major CDMA carriers, Sprint (Epic 4) and Verizon (Fascinate).
