<p>Before now, there were no obvious rules or guidelines in place, this allowed each phone manufacturer to select their method of connectivity (and frustrated consumers)!</p>
<p>Now before you get your hopes up and start throwing out your vast collection of USB cables, this new standard is not mandatory&#8230;.but Sony Ericsson is already committed, and other manufacturers appear interested.</p>
