Though the sad realization of a locked bootloader is around the corner, there is a silver lining! According to our Forum Users, June 4th appears to be the rumored day that the Upcoming Android Sequel to the EVO 4G, the EVO 3D, is slated to release. According to their super hive-mind sleuthing powers, the users on our EVO 3D Forums appear to be talking it up with the various Sprint Stores, all hearing within or around the weekend of June 4th. We expect a very short turnaround on the hacking community (UnrEVOked anyone?) to start making attempts to break the device’s will once it goes live.

We have yet to hear anything official regarding a release date for the device – but it’s been common for carriers to wait until the last minute on their release announcements. There’s only one way to be sure, we’ll have to wait to see one in the wild!
