The HTC Flyer is nearing it’s launch in the US finally. The WiFi-only version of the HTC Flyer will be available for pre-order exclusively from Best Buy starting TODAY! So far the only place we know to carry it will be Best Buy. Once again they get a new device exclusively and will be selling the Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer tablet at $499.

“We are excited to be the only national store where you can pre-order and purchase the Wi-Fi version of the HTC Flyer,” said Scott Anderson, head of merchandising for Best Buy Mobile. “There is a tremendous amount of excitement and curiosity about tablets in our stores and adding the HTC Flyer to the mix will drive even more interest.”

HTC’s 7-inch Flyer tablet recently went up for pre-order at UK retailer Carphone Warehouse as well as their Best Buy Mobile arm. Currently only available off-contract, the HTC Flyer is being offered for £599.99 with no data plan, SIM-lock or agreement. What this means is that buyers will be able to slot in a SIM of their own and not lock themselves into a two-year data plan if they don’t want to. Exciting right?

We’ve been waiting for more details since March when the Flyer was first announced. The specifications still seem to be the same. It will be powered by a single-core 1.5GHz processor and will feature 1GB RAM, coupled with 32GB of built-in storage (microSD slot is available). For photo and video the tablet offers a 5MP main shooter, as well as a secondary 1.3MP front-facing cam for video chats. Powered by a 4000mAh battery, the Flyer is said to provide up to 4 hours of constant video playback for you to enjoy.

Although the UK lists this device as now in stock the rumor is that they will not be shipping until May of 2011. The best part about the Flyer is that PhoneArena suggests it’s been officially confirmed to be found at Best Buy exclusive in the US soon after launch. This is exciting for those HTC users who love their products. HTC to me is like Apple is to others and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

The image confirms the HTC Flyer will definitely be launched on T-Mobile’s network (maybe European only) but rumors suggest it will also be found on Sprint’s network sometime this Summer. There haven’t been release dates mentioned just yet, but there are specifications are all over the web and the HTC website has the greatest details. We are here to share those with you now and get your opinions on the device.

The HTC Flyer has a 7″ screen size and is a Gingerbread tablet that is fast, portable and light weight. It’s the first tablet you will see from HTC to hit the shelves. Rumors earlier this year stated that we may see a total of three or more tablets from HTC, so this is just a start. If you don’t like the screen size just be patient, maybe HTC will release a larger sized tablet all in good time.

HTC is assuring gamers that this tablet will take your games to the next level with its superfast 1.5 GHz processor and Adobe Flash support. The HTC Flyer will have the integration of the OnLive gaming services so you can use it as your new gaming console if you want to. All you need is the OnLive game controller and you can instantly have access to the best games all over the world.

The device also has a 5 mega-pixel color camera with auto focus as well as a 1.3 megapixel front camera. Of course it has the 720p HD camcorder so you can get some great videos to share with friends.You have the ability to use multi-window browsing with pinch to zoom as well.

HTC has announced quite a few new Android devices coming out later this year. There’s even a couple that have a dedicated Facebook button (I know, I don’t see the point either since you just need to put a shortcut on your homescreen, but whatever works). There’s the HTC Salsa, ChaCha, Desire S, Incredible S, and Wildfire S. There’s even a tablet, the HTC Flyer.

First up is the HTC Salsa. Here’s the demo video:

This phone will have a 3.7″ WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and rear and front-facing cameras.

Next is the HTC Wildfire S:

This phone is probably an entry-level Android phone. It features a 3.2″screen with a resolution of 320×480, 600MHz processor and 512MB of ROM/RAM.

The HTC Incredible S:

This phone has a 4″ WVGA Super LCD display, 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash, a front-facing camera, a 1GHz processor, 768Mb of RAM, and a 1450mAh battery.

And finally the HTC Flyer:

This is a 7″ touchscreen with a stylus…yes, we said a stylus, although they call it a Scribe pen. It has an aluminum unibody shell and a 1.5GHz processor. It won’t ship with Honeycomb, but it looks like there will be an update available at a later date.

UPDATE: HTC also launched a 1.5GHz, 7-inch Android 2.4 Tablet

What sticks out to us about this tablet is that it will have Android 2.4 over Honeycomb. Rumor was Sense wasn’t going to be put on this device, but HTC has put a different version of Sense in it actually. Some other features include a 1.5GHz single-core CPU, 1GB of RAM plus 32GB of flash storage, an aluminum unibody construction, 1024 x 600 resolution and of course the tablet-optimized version of Sense.

For the amount of HTC addicts out there, this will be great news for you! Spreading like wildfires across the web now is HTC’s plan to launch three tablet PC’s in the first half of 2011. No that image above isn’t it but it is an example of what it could be like, we don’t know for sure.

The first model, the Flyer, is said to begin shipping in the US market in March according to distributors. The Flyer is said to run Android 2.3 but we have no confirmation on that or any other specs it may have. Also, according to the tipster at DigiTimes, users will be able to upgrade to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) whenever the operating system becomes available.

HTC’s goal is said to be beating the Blackberry Playbook as well as the Motorola Xoom in sales. Who will win that race? Let us know who you think. It will be interesting to see how well any tablet sales in 2011, mainly these mentioned.
