Motorola MOTOROI Coming To US In March 2010

Update 1/24/10: An update to this story. The MOTOROI has been spotting passing through the FCC is ID IHDP56KC6, complete with T-Mobile 3G Bands (1700MHz/2100MHz HSPA with a peak of 10.2Mbps down and 5.6Mbps up), bluetooth, GPS, Magnetic Compass, WiFI and a 1390 mAH battery. There’s no word yet if it will have the same specs as the Korean version listed below. Source: TmoNews

Remember the rumored Motorola Sholes Tablet? It appears as though this is the Motorola MOTOROI that was announced yesterday as arriving in Korea. According to Rick Wolochatiuk, president and representative director of Motorola Korea, says that it will be released in other markets around the world, and SK Telecom SVP suggested that it will arrive in the US in March 2010.

It runs Android 2.0, has an 8MP camera, can do 720p HD video recording, and has a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen.

Windows Mobile 6.6 To Be Announced In February

Sources have said that Microsoft will announce Windows Mobile 6.6 in February, possible around the time of the Mobile World Congress. This is probably the WM6.5.3 builds that we’ve seen floating around, which are supposed to be focused towards the use of capacitive touchscreens, such as the HD2.

In other news, the sources have also said that WM7 is delayed until 2011 instead of the end of 2010 like was originally rumored.

HTC Dragon – Android version of the Leo

It appears as though the HTC Dragon will be the Android version of the much anticipated Leo/HD2, with the 1GHz Snapdragon processor and all!

It looks as though it has a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen, a row of touch-sensitive hardware buttons and even a trackball! It could also have the LED flash!

There’s rumors that its probably a GSM device, but Verizon has been branding the term 3G on their devices lately as well.

So if this really is the Android cousin to the Leo, and if it comes to the US around the same time, which flavor will you get? WinMo or Android?

Sony Xperia X3 Going Android? Snapdragon too?!?

As if there wasn’t enough Android news in the market, there’s some new leaked images of the Sony Xperia X3, which will have Android as its OS as opposed to WinMo like the original Xperia and the X2 did. To the right, you’ll see a leaked image from 4PDA.info. It is expected to be released around January 2010 with some nice specs.

It is rumored to have the 1GHz Snapdragon processor along with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera, yes, we said 8! It will have a 4 inch 852 x 480 capacitive touchscreen with dualband HSPA, WiFi b/g and GPS.

Moto Droid – Android 2.0 in all its glory!

The guys over at BGR were lucky enough to get a hands-on experience with the Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless. Its running Android 2.0, which we mentioned the other day.

Its the thinnest QWERTY slider on the market, being slightly thicker than the iPhone. It has a huge capacitive display.

According to BGR:

It’s running Android 2.0. Duh.

It’s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider we’ve ever seen.

It is the fastest Android device we’ve ever used. (It’s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)

The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller. It’s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic.

Awesome capacitive display. Plus it’s huge. Easily the best screen we’ve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall.

The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. We’ve been told the keyboard design isn’t final on this unit, thus the two no-shows.

Have we mentioned this phone flies? It’s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive. From what we’ve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh?

There’s a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that we’ve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a “multimedia station” and displays local weather, the time, etc.

No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a child’s toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone we’ve used since the iPhone. It’s positively amazing).
