A HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile for only $149.99 with FREE SHIPPING? As President Obama said, "Yes, we can!"

If you are interested in picking up a HTC Touch Pro2 and running it on T-Mobile, then you can go to Amazon and pick up this deal. They will even throw in free shipping! All you need to do is activate a new line of service and it is yours.

With the HTC HD2 coming out on T-Mobile for $199, this is a mighty hard sell for most of you to justify. However, this is the Great Recession, so that $50 dollar difference could buy you an app or two, maybe. The specs include a 3.5" 480x800 touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, 802.11g wireless, Windows Mobile 6.5, and more.

We already knew T-Mobile was getting the HTC HD2 and the Motorola CLIQ XT, but now we have some release dates and tentative pricing. According to the screenshot, the CLIQ XT is coming on March 10th and the HD2 is coming on March 24th. Contract pricing is $139.99 for the CLIQ XT and $199.99 for the HD2.

As we all know, the HD2 has a 4.3" WVGA screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera, but may or may not be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7.

The CLIQ XT, also known as the Quench, sports Android 1.5 with MOTOBLUR, a 5MP camera, and a 3.1″ 320 x 480 OLED touch display.

HTC and T-Mobile are teaming up for their latest campaign to sell you phones, and this one is a dandy folks. Anybody who signs a new 2-year contract with T-Mobile between January 20th and March 23rd of this year and decides on getting either a HTC Touch Pro2, a T-Mobile Dash 3G, or a T-Mobile Shadow is eligible for up to $500 in rewards. But instead of the usual "blah-de-bleh", these rewards are worthwhile (for some at least).

As seen below, one reward is awarded each month. It begins in April of this year and continues on until March 2011. Some of the rewards include-

April (2010): Buy one night, get one night free at participating IHG properties (including InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza®, Holiday Inn®) in the US and Canada (up to $350 value)

June (2010): 40% discount on phone accessories at HTC.com (up to $32 discount)—US customers only. Puerto Rico customers eligible to receive a $25 flight discount on any airline.

January (2011): $10 off purchase of an EA SPORTS video game at www.eastore.com (up to $10 value)

Does this entice you enough to switch to T-Mobile? Or are you waiting for the HTC HD2 to come out before making the move? Either way, this is a creative way to get new customers.

If you are interested, go here for more details!

Full list of rewards after the jump!

Update: As of 12:54PM ET the issue has been fixed, although there hasn't been an official announcement of what the issue was.

Users of the Google Nexus One on T-Mobile are reporting a nationwide data outage this morning. Users are reporting that their SIM card will work in other phones in the same area. While it appears to be widespread, it doesn't appear to be affecting every user. We'll give more information as we find it out. As expected, both HTC and T-Mobile technical support is experiencing extremely high call volume this morning.

Update: WalMart has admitted this was an error and released the following quote: "Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time."

From the screenshot above, you can see that WalMart Wireless now has a page saying the Google Nexus One will be available "soon". As you probably know, Google is currently offering the phone through T-Mobile with Verizon Wireless on-board for offering it in 2010 also.

The interesting spec on the WalMart page is the data frequencies:
Technology GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
Voice Frequencies 850/900/1800/1900
Data Technology 850/1900 MHz, 1xRTT + 1xEvDO, integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth® 2.0
Data Frequencies Tri Band UMTS/HSDPA (850/1900/2100 MHz)

Now, according to this, it will support At&t's 3G bands (850/1900) and one of T-Mobile's (2100). For Data Technology, it lists 1xRTT and 1xEvDO, which usually refers to the CDMA data network.

We're not sure how reliable this page is, or if it was created just to draw attention to WalMart's wireless offerings, but it could be a game changer depending on the price they'll sell it for and which carriers it will work on.

If you remember, the HTC HD2 is headed to T-Mobile USA, and is rumored to be the only device currently on the market to be upgraded to WM7.

Now that the HTC product page is live, you'll see that the US version will come with some nice boosts in its specs compared to the European version currently on the market. It will have 1Gb ROM (up from 512Mb), and 576Mb RAM (up from 448Mb). It will also be coming with a 16Gb microSD card in the box instead of the 2Gb one. Yes, we said it, 16Gb!

The reports have come in, and the highly anticipated Google Phone, the Nexus One, has only sold 20,000 units in its first week. This is not a lot when compared to the other popular phones (Droid, iPhone, and even some Windows Mobile phones). The Verizon Wireless Droid sold about 250,000 in its first week. Google hasn't done traditional advertising for this phone like Verizon and Motorola did for the Droid. They've only used their Google AdWords to advertise on websites (you've probably seen them on our site), and other internet marketing only. Also, you can't buy it in stores, only from Google's website. Could it also be the fact that its only available on T-Mobile (or At&t without 3G and full price)? Perhaps when it gets released for Verizon sales will pick up.

Analysts have estimated that there would be 5-6 million Nexus One phones sold this year, so even though its a slow start, maybe things will pick up eventually.

So far the biggest reported issue is 3G connectivity, which HTC and T-Mobile are working on as we speak.

The HD2 is quite the phone. 1GHz snapdragon, 4.3 inch screen. To me it is the perfect phone. All that remained to be seen is if it was coming to my carrier (which is Sprint btw). Unfortunately, it is not to be. T-Mobile has confirmed that it will be the carrier to officially bring the HD2 to the United States. The only carrier according to the picture below.

The only question that remains is why are they waiting so long? The HD2 will be released in the Spring of 2010, at which point the Touch Pro3 might make an appearance. The TP3 may cause people to withold purchasing the HD2 as they may want the TP3 more than they do the HD2. Leave your thoughts in the comments.

T-Mobile recently announced that its entire 3G network (the smallest of the large US carriers) has recently been upgraded to 7.2Mbps HSPA, with plans to begin rolling out 21Mbps HSPA+ soon. We're not sure if anyone is seeing the 7.2Mbps speeds yet, so far reports have been sketchy. While some are reporting improvements, nothing major has been reported.

Today, At&t announced that is has completed the first half of its upgrade to 7.2Mbps HSPA. They've upgraded the software at the cell sites, but the expensive part, getting the backhaul there, will still be coming with hopes of completing it for the majority of their 3G network by the end of the year. "The backhaul process has already begun in the initial test markets of Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami".

The much anticipated and talked about Nexus One has just had its pricing information leaked. It looks like you will be able to buy it unlocked (for GSM users) directly from Google for $530.

If you happen to have T-Mobile, you can get it for about $180 on a 2-year contract and you are required to be on a plan that's $79.99/month. That plan is the T-Mobile Even More Individual 500 Plan which includes 500 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited T-Mobile to T-Mobile, unlimited messaging, and unlimited web.

Source: GSMArena

Apparently, if you get the Nexus One on a plan, you can cancel the plan before the 120 days mark and either return the phone or pay the difference. In this case however you will also have to pay 350 dollars for the handset rather than 180.

Also you can purchase a maximum of 5 Nexus One phones per Google account. Google makes sure you understand the division of labor - Google and HTC handle support and troubleshooting for the device and exchanges, while T-Mobile will handle network-related support like coverage, billing and so on.

One rumor is that the Nexus One will be available in early January and the T-Mobile subsidies will start around March. But looking at that order page, it seems like the phone will be available unlocked and from T-Mobile simultaneously.

The Nexus One, the Google Phone is closer to reality than it's ever been. All that's left is to sober up by January 5th and keep an eye on www.google.com/phone. This is (or rather will be) the page from which you can get your Nexus One.

Phone calls cost money. As consumers, we have the option to pay as you go, pay for a set amount of minutes per month, or choose an unlimited amount of minutes per month. But the amount of calls that the cell company can process is a static amount and is expensive and costs the same no matter which phone plan a user opts for. More phones calls for a set amount of space raises the cost of handling phone calls.

The amount of calls that they can process per chunk of their finite spectrum allocated to them by the FCC is important. The more calls they can handle with less resources frees up space for more bandwidth-intensive applications like internet access. Higher speeds and more bandwidth are things that we all can enjoy.

For U.S. Carriers that use GSM as their basis of cellular communication (AT&T and T-Mobile), the move to 4G via LTE is especially important. Besides the speed gains (as high as 100 Mbps for download) and advertising advantage versus 3G competitors, LTE will allow its users (Verizon Wireless (who is making the switch from CDMA-based to GSM-based technologies for 4G), AT&T, and T-Mobile in the U.S.) to package more mobile phone calls per 1 Mhz of space then ever was possible before.

In a perfect and simplified world, basic GSM (2.5G) technology can move between 4 and 8 calls per 1 Mhz. Not bad in our perfect simplified world. Moving up to UMTS (3G) nets 12 calls per Mhz while HSPA (3.5G) can get 24 calls per Mhz. That is all good and dandy, but what about the 4G bringer, LTE? Anywhere from 50 to 80 calls per Mhz.

As you can see, LTE is going to be a major upgrade for both carriers and consumers as more calls per Mhz means lower costs for carriers which will (hopefully) translate to lower bills and higher speeds for consumers. For those who would like to get down and dirty with the details, please go to the source link for a more in-depth explanation into how these numbers were figured out.

We just received a tip from Mike who stumbled across an article which proves that bad things happen in 3's, at least that's the case with T-Mobile. As if the Sidekick outage, and the nationwide outage last night wasn't enough, there's now reports that people are getting images of topless women, or images of women in their underwear when the log into T-Mobile's Bill Payment website. They are advertising a T-Mobile feature called MobileLife, but apparently the images aren't being screened first.

More images after the break.

Signal is down all over the place (voice AND data).

Not to worry, T-Mobile has issued the following statement:

"T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available."

Ah, now it's good. First you lost some sidekick data, now service is down. What good is my HD2 if I can't make a call or browse the web?

Update 11/4/09: T-Mobile posted after midnight last night that the issue was resolved and claimed that it only affected 5% of its user base, which is still about 1.7 million people.

11/4/09 - Official Statement: "On Tuesday, some T-Mobile customers may have experienced service disruptions impacting voice and messaging services. We restored full service to all affected customers later in the day. After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network. T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future. We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced."

We haven't heard any other information on this, such as a price or a date, but if this is true, along with Project Dark, T-Mobile could be getting quite a few new customers with that plan and phone. Now only if their 3G coverage was on par with the other big 3 carriers. We'll see if the rumor is true!
