Most of us have heard about the Kyocera Echo M9300 smartphone Sprint is going to be releasing sometime this year, although nobody is sure of the date just yet. We can look here on the Sprint site and see all the details and price of $199.99 after MIR (mail-in rebate) with a new 2-year contract though.
Sources suggest the official launch date shouldn’t be too far away from now since it’s being heavily advertised on Sprint’s web site and now approved by the FCC.

We’ve heard rumors about a Sprint and T-Mobile merger in the past, and this is no different. This morning, Bloomberg is reporting about Sprint and Deutsche Telekom holding meetings to discuss a possible acquisition. The deal could reportedly give Deutsche Telekom a sizable stake in Sprint following the merger – up to 50%. Sprint had no comment, but a Deutsche Telekom spokesperson said the company “could sell all or part of the U.S. business, and all options are open.”

If Sprint CEO Dan Hesse hits all of his target goals this year, he’ll see a $720,000 (nearly 18%) increase in his bonus. He already makes over $10 million a year, so for him, the 18% probably isn’t very much, but its nice either way. Does he deserve it though? That’s for you to discuss. While he could see the increased bonus, he has one less responsibility. He no longer has to try to get people to sign up for Clearwire’s 4G WiMAX service. Read more…

Sprint recently announced a new Total Equipment Protection application that is very useful for smartphones if you pay for the TEP insurance plan. If you lose your phone you can locate, lock, clear and restore it all with this application. To give you peace of mind you can restore your information once you recover your handset so don’t think everything is gone forever. This is something Verizon and AT&T have already been successful with so maybe Sprint will be as well.

Sprint and LightSquared Inc. are in discussion to share cell sites equipment, helping build out each others network. The deal, if it goes through, would allow LightSquared to roll out its network faster and cheaper then their current thought of methods. With Sprint planing to spend $5 billion in infrastructure upgrades in the near future, this would leave Sprint with extra capacity in which they can offer to LightSquared is what’s being said.

So it seems Sprint has tweeted about a new phone coming out February 24th. The big question is what is it. Is it Android, WebOS, Windows Phone 7? Maybe it is an extension onto the wild Evo line, or another Samsung Device….Maybe it is the HTC 7 Pro (Gold_C).

YAY! Sprint is getting closer to a Windows Phone 7 Device. Our friends over at WPCentral have posted some Valentines Day loving for Sprint users. Yes I did say Valentines day – I don’t know if anyone caught it or not but I am now so enjoy the little late Valentines Love. They found through 91HTC the finalized Sprint Rom for the HTC 7 Pro. This should mean we are getting close to a release day.

It remains a very distinct possibility that Sprint will make the jump to LTE. Sprint issued an RFP exploring the migration to LTE, then they announced a multi-billion dollar network overhaul that could easily pave the way for such transition.
We’ve also heard it from more than one employee over the last six months that Sprint absolutely will be building an LTE Network despite executive protestations. No this should come to no surprise as we here at PPCGeeks reported the network overhaul and the fact that Clearwire has been doing LTE testing and has shown speeds of 90 mb/s burst. Of course this news was before the leaked news that Clearwire will be going wholesale, though Clearwire too has made hints they could shift to LTE – for survival reasons. Whatever the outcome, Sprint may say they’ll be making their intention clean sometime over the next 4 to 6 month time frame.
