As times change, so does how we listen to music, especially portable music. From cassettes we went to CDs, then even the MiniDisc (anyone remember those things?), then to mp3 players. Now with smartphones becoming more mainstream for the casual user, streaming internet radio is becoming more popular.
Right now, two of the most popular services are probably Slacker Radio and Pandora. In this editorial, we will compare both services, and you will get the input of 2 people from the site, myself (mindfrost82), and Courtney1985. Read more…

Did you go and purchase an Verizon Wireless iPhone this morning or receive one in the mail and try to activate it today? If so, you may be one of the ones experiencing problems with no service.
We have just had a few tips suggesting there is no estimated time of when the activations will be successful but Verizon Wireless is working hard to get the issue solved in a hastily manner.

Apple recently updated iMovie, which was for the iPhone and iPod originally, to a universal application. Now it will support the iPad2 and also brings new themes and HD sharing directly to YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and CCN iReport.
If you aren’t sure what iMovie is, it’s a movie editing application that is part of the iLife suite of digital lifestyle applications that allows Apple Macintosh users to create movies from several different sources including digital video cameras, DV-encoded files and pictures.

Do you like it when a rumor gets started? I don’t but this one is sure catching my attention. Maybe for other iPhone owners it will too. The latest rumor claims Apple will hold its annual iOS roadmap event in early April to show off iOS 5 and also states that Apple may unveil an updated MobileMe service as well.

You read right! The folks over at BGR is reporting that they have information from multiple trusted sources that Research In Motion (RIM) is planning on bringing its Blackberry Messenger (BBM) service to Android, and eventually iOS. Details have not been finalized yet, but it sounds like they will offer a stripped down version of their service and it could be free or a one-time or monthly subscription fee. Read more…

Internet radio has really taken off within the last few years with services like Pandora, Slacker, and Last.FM. Pandora and Slacker both offer their services for free but also have a premium upgrade package available. So far, Last.FM has always been free, including unlimited skips and a few ads. That’s about to change, because today, Last.FM has announced that they are moving most connected devices over to a subscription-based service. It looks to be $3/month. Streaming through the website will remain free with ads. Also, if you have an XBox or Windows Phone 7 device, you will still get free streaming. Unfortunately, for those on iPhone, Android, and other “connected devices”, you will have to start paying for the subscription on February 15th to continue your streaming. Read more…

AT&T and Apple came together in 2007 to provide the United States with the most innovative smart phone that swept the market by storm. Year after year since then, they have broken sales records and haven’t looked back. This seemed like a match made in heaven, and for both parties involved, it was. There is a problem with this match made in heaven though, and AT&T knows it’s time to change.

Finally, Android has caught up to the iPhone in total users as of November of last year. Hopefully Decembers reports will be even better for them. Not that I have anything against the iPhone but Android has come a long ways in just a couple of years!

So the luming question about Windows Phone 7 and the live tiles is: How much data do we need to plan for? Is this going to be a HUGE spike in service costs since everything is live, from cloud data? Or is this going to be about same usage as other phones? Well my fellow PPCG Fans we do have an answer for you! Although it is still early in the game it does not look like WP7 uses abnormal amounts compared to Apple’s iPhone. It fact it looks like less!

So it appears that the internet has blown up about the Skyfire download being pulled off of iTunes in the US. This comes as a huge surprise to us. Skyfire app, unlike for windows mobile and android, is charging it’s users $2.99 in the app store to use their system. This was happening so fast that Skyfires servers crashed and resulted in Skyfire pulling the app from download.

We thought about sharing the previous videos of WP7 that were leaked onto the web and now we’re happy that we didn’t. This new, 3 minute, 720p HD video gives you an example of how WP7 is designed to do more in less steps. Thanks to member nrfitchett4 here at PPCGeeks for pointing this out …
