[DISCUSSION] HTC Flyer headed to T-Mobile,Sprint and maybe other carriers – Will you get one?
The image confirms the HTC Flyer will definitely be launched on T-Mobile's network (maybe European only) but rumors suggest it will also be found on Sprint's network sometime this Summer. There haven't been release dates mentioned just yet, but there are specifications are all over the web and the HTC website has the greatest details. We are here to share those with you now and get your opinions on the device.
The HTC Flyer has a 7" screen size and is a Gingerbread tablet that is fast, portable and light weight. It's the first tablet you will see from HTC to hit the shelves. Rumors earlier this year stated that we may see a total of three or more tablets from HTC, so this is just a start. If you don't like the screen size just be patient, maybe HTC will release a larger sized tablet all in good time.
HTC is assuring gamers that this tablet will take your games to the next level with its superfast 1.5 GHz processor and Adobe Flash support. The HTC Flyer will have the integration of the OnLive gaming services so you can use it as your new gaming console if you want to. All you need is the OnLive game controller and you can instantly have access to the best games all over the world.
The device also has a 5 mega-pixel color camera with auto focus as well as a 1.3 megapixel front camera. Of course it has the 720p HD camcorder so you can get some great videos to share with friends. You have the ability to use multi-window browsing with pinch to zoom as well.
See the HTC website for the full list of specifications here. For now, let us know what you think! Will you be getting one if it goes to your carrier? I think I will! Let us know what you think if you are even interested.

Too bad it’s just another Android devices… boring!
and companies wonder why their market growth is slowed… you can’t grow in an over saturated market! You know even teenage girls get tired of watching brooding vampire movies after a while. move on already expand innovate invest in Windows Phone! You can capture a big piece of a smaller market while it is still growing and become a major player in a huge market later.
@MrMocoCoco, “You can capture a big piece of a smaller market while it is still growing and become a major player in a huge market later”
This statement makes no sense, what small market do you refer too? The “huge market later” you are referring to is whats happening right now. MS and wp7 isn’t in a market by themselves they are part of whats happening right now and the reason it will be difficult or them to get a bigger piece of the pie is because of their own laziness. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have that many issues with wp7. Its great at what it does but right now consumers just aren’t interested.
Like you said the market is saturated with Android, iOS and to a lesser extent RIM and thats where all the action is at the moment not to mention windows phone, for what it is, is still in its relative infancy(kind of anyway). Right now windows phone hardware just isn’t flying off the shelves and while microsoft is trying to figure out how to get their current phones up to par with copy and paste updates, iOS and Android will continue to make improvements on what they have and continue to saturate the market even further making it that much harder for windows phone to be successful.
It seems like you hate android and all but what you have to understand is one of the main reasons why android is so successful is because of all of the wm users eventually jumping ship to android. Microsoft is in the situation they are in right now because of their lazy asses not wanting to innovate. For years we were all stuck on the same re-hash of the same old same old, iOS came out of no where and dominated the market then android started growing and evolving exponentially while microsoft sat there and watched. So microsoft has no one to blame but themselves so if you gonna be mad then don’t be mad at android be mad at microsoft.
@MrMocoCoco, There is really nothing to invest in WP7 at the moment..each carrier is releasing one device with it to test the waters..and thats about ALL they can do…right now WP7 supports limited hardware..aka the first snapdragon only…until Mango update comes all you can do is release exact same phones but just different form factor…
@gTen, its not that it doesn’t support anything else its just that was the minimum specified. And wp7 doesn’t really need state of the art hardware to run smooth like Android does.
@eric12341, ATM its the minimum and only CPU thats allowed on WP7..the carriers release 1 device and they got WP7 covered…they have no reason to release more..remember to carriers its a marketing game…even if a user does not need 50000ghz they will still sell it to make ppl commit to new contracts…
That said WP7 has full hardware accelerated UI..Android ATM does not until Honeycomb/Ice cream…at that point it will be a lot smoother too..but again that is irrelevant because different hardware gives carriers a reason to market it…
If the htc flyer aka evo view 4g came with honeycomb at release then I would say maybe(and thats a huge MAYBE) I would have considered it but the fact that it comes with gingerbread is a massive fail IMO which leads to a there’s no way in hell I would buy one. I guess though that it will also depend on the price of it too, and they did say that it would eventually get upgraded to honeycomb once its ready but who knows how long that will take. Also as much as I am still not sold on tablets the newer samsung tabs with honeycomb look sexy as hell and if I had to go out at by one I would rather get the samsung 10.1.
@themuffinman, HTC actually commented on that..they have yet to stick their HTC Sense on Honeycomb so they decided to go Gingerbread with sense rather then using stock Honeycomb…:/
That said I don’t see a point to the Flyer..unless they price it like 300$ off contract…cause otherwise its better to go with a Dual Core tablet that can take advantage of both cores due to Honeycomb. Rather then a single core tablet thats just overclocked…
I just don’t understand what the big deal is about tablets. Get a laptop
@mangomango, I’m with ya
@mangomango, Agreed. With my laptop and my Evo, I have no use for a device that is stuck in between.
again useless devices no need for it i think this is step back in tech world!!!!! something this small and undermiuscle and still more expensive than a laptop……
+1
If this was 10″ i might consider this.
