[DISCUSSION] ATT or Verizon iPad2: Which one would you choose?
These questions are going up all over the web so why don't we ask our Geeks the same thing? Which one would you choose: the AT&T or Verizon Wireless iPad2? We will give you some specifications, prices and more information to maybe help you in your decision making process.
Three major categories to use for comparison when considering purchasing one of these devices are plans, coverage and pricing. We will start with plans first.
Data Plans
Take a look at the chart below that we found online that breaks down the different data plan pricing options.
Coverage
The Verizon network uses CDMA and AT&T uses GSM. Verizon is focusing more on 4G which will offer greater speeds of up to 8-12MB. This will also require a 4G iPad. AT&T on the other hand has a GSM 3G network and they are still expanding with slated speeds of up to 8MB. Also, when traveling the world keep in mind that only AT&T's GSM device is going to give you service, no the CDMA one. Last but not least, don't forget to check the coverage map and make sure you have coverage.
Pricing
The prices from each carrier, AT&T or Verizon, are going to be the same. You can get a 16GB iPad2 for $499, a 32GB for $599 or a 64GB for $699. This comes as no surprise to us because when you think about it, most people will go for the cheaper cost. Way to go AT&T and Verizon for making that part easy on consumers who are shopping for a better deal based on price!
Do you know which one you are getting already? What makes you so sure if so? Let us know your thoughts and comments in the boxes below.

Verizon because ATT is CR@P
ATT cause you can jailbreak it to work on any GSM carrier. With VZW, your stuck with them.
neither i would rather get a gingerbread tablet with wifi and just tether with my phone
If anyone was in the market for a tablet, i would totally skip android and gingerbred since it’s still unrefined and they barely have 100 apps for it. Like it or not, the iPad 2 will be a beast this year and the only one worth considering, plus its cheaper too.
Wow. Am I the only one who finds those prices INCREDIBLY ridiculous? That’s disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

). Anything between seems absolutely useless to me, especially for $500 plus.
I agree. I am the type of person who can’t stand a laptop computer. The touch pad makes me want to vomit. I have an android phone and a windows desktop (with ubuntu installed on a secondary hd
Even if AT&T network is cr@p, I will choose AT&T, the main reason is because recently I see that the updates goes sooner to GSM devices than CDMA with the new 4.3 update, also because GSM network is more popular in the world than CDMA.
About the prices, is not a big deal cuz there is always a way around to cut prices, like using the network from a jailbreak iphone or a rooted android, besides with the constant push from Verizon, AT&T is still improving their network, slowly but improving.
