Take a look at the video Wirefly has recently posted giving you a detailed overview of the Sprint HTC Arrive. This Windows Phone 7 device rocks a 3.6" LCD screen that does tilt when you slide open the keyboard. The Arrive has a 5MP camera with an LED flash and also supports HD video.
We know several users here have been following the news on this device and thought you may enjoy this video. It will give you several details about this device's functionality. You will see images taken with the camera, videos taken and also how the copy & paste feature works. Watch the video below for everything you need to know!
What did you think? Is it what you expected? The HTC Arrive release date is March 20th and Sprint offers the HTC Arrive on a 2 year contract for $199.99 (after a $100 mail-in rebate). I’m getting it. I’m tired of my TP2 issues. Plus I’m ready for XBOX Live Support, Netflix, One Note and the rest of the updated office suite and I’m ready for those APPS! 9,000!!!! I’m really hoping CTIA brings more than Android and we see a suprise WP7 device with a 4″ screen (AMOLED or SLCD). I’d like a bigger screen on the Arrive but keep the same KB functionality. Don’t really need 4G since it pretty much acts like WiFi anyways(you can only get it in some spots). The Price is ok. I’m getting my tax return soon so I can swallow this cost easily. Plus I get a company discount.
Well it will be $299 at purchase time. I will be getting it also, I am also tired of my dinosaur the HTC Touch.
@wud_e I am with you on the CTIA announcement. A Droid only announcement will leave the crowd like Ooookay. I mean why a Droid only event when you just had one. Would not make sense.
@alphaxi3, Yeah I agree! If this is Android only I will be a little upset. I understand Android is still the OS darling of the world but enough already. Let’s give all OSes on Sprint equal time.
TP3?
I realy wanted to jump on the WP7 platform once a full keyboard came along, but this is just a TP2 with WM7 and a camera flash.
Like it, but it’s not worth me signing on for another 2yr and $299.
@alex jb, of course its worth it.
@alex jb, Did you really expect more from HTC. I really do not like HTC, because I think their phones are crap and are prone to freezes and are laggy. I just need a phone bad. I’ve had this piece of crap HTC Touch for 4yrs now and I have to get a new phone. Damn thing does not always ring or receive text all of the time. I was really hoping Samsung or Motorola would have been first, but no such luck.
I wish he would have confirmed if it has a SIM card slot.
No microsd slot and no SIM card.. .. I think i’ll pass on it… waiting for a nokia wm7 phone instead.
@migz1134, For GSM you mean right? It might be a lot longer wait for a CDMA Nokia phone. Unfortunately.
Not only that. It is a captive screen and very fast processor. In some way, better than a TP2.
But its not a world phone and dont like the charger plug in on the side.
Just remember, this is the first one that Sprint is to offer. Undoubtedly there will be more choices near the end of the summer and even more by the end of the year. If this isn’t the one for you, just hold out and see what is out on Sprint a few months from now.
Or, you could switch to the dark side… there are plenty of good Android phones out for Sprint right now.
This is definitely impressive, but I still want a bigger screen device. That said, I’m still gonna get my hands on one to see how it works or not.
I’ve been saying it everywhere on the web, wherever I see something about the HTC Arrive for Sprint, and that is that I am not head over heels jumping on board this ship quite yet. Although I am head over heels all for Windows Phone 7, and I am indeed dying to upgrade from my Touch Pro 2. But HTC really ticked me off with pawning off the TP2 as a solid, great device, and shame on me for thinking the same. The TP2 is not too bad in regards to being a smartphone, that being a tasks, calendar, e-mail, etc…. general things, with some decent aps. Yet, I am ever so annoyed by its sluggish, freezing at times, sleep-of-death, amongst other problems that came with it. I’m hoping to conjure up the paitence to wait for the next better thing, something like a dual-core, greater-than 1 ghz processor, Gorilla Glass, 4″ screen, HTML5 browser, etc. etc….. ahh who knows, maybe my lack of paitence will get the better of me. But this Arrive doesn’t have me killing for one. Samsung, please make a WP7 device for Sprint!!
I’m a fan of the location of the charger plug. Both my TP1 and TP2 were great, but having the tilt on the TP2 made me use the phone in landscape mode more often, and the charger plug on the bottom kept tugging the phone into a spin if I had it on my desk.
Ive been really hyped about Wp7 but for $199 i can get an evo 4g with a massive Dev community and google services…… Im still undecided and waiting till CTIA before i make my final decision.
I did a little research on this beauty, love the form factor.
would love to have one hacked with WM6.5 or android.
That being said, here are the negatives to deal with for now:
–No Front Facing Camera,
–No FaceTime
–No International GSM Support
–No custom ringtones
–Limited app library
–Text messages just stop at 160 characters
–No multi-tasking
–No Sprint Live Football
–Netflix video needlessly pixelated even when on wifi
–No 4G,yet still have to pay 10 more
–absence of sync with Outlook, no Mobile Device Centersync!
–You can’t use it as a drive when connected to a PC
–There are a few places in OS where the display doesn’t flip to landscape mode
–Keyboard can be difficult to slide out sometimes
—Lack of microSD slot
—Zune required for media Sync.
—Too much swipping is involved if u have lots of apps, due to the Vertical
arrangement.
This is from other users posts, so I can’t be 100% certain about it.
I’m not knocking it, just being upfront, as very phone has compromise.
Just want to lay it out, what I found so you wont be surprised.
In actuality not too bad for a first unit tho..
Even with these fault you cannot deny the attraction.
