SAN FRANCISCO, March 2, 2011: Sony Ericsson and Major League Gaming (MLG), the world’s largest professional video game league and provider of cross platform online videogame competition, today announced a partnership making Xperia™ PLAY the official mobile handset of Major League Gaming.
“Sony Ericsson is redefining mobile gaming with Xperia™ PLAY. With more than $1 million in prizes and player stipends, this will be the largest season in MLG history.
To showcase the extensive capabilities of Xperia™ PLAY, each MLG Pro Circuit event will feature demonstrations, game challenges and giveaways, kicking off at the season opener on April 1 in Dallas. Sony Ericsson will also sponsor MLG Pro Player Dave “Walshy” Walsh and MLG Coach Andy “JT Bravo” Dudynsky for the 2011 Season. Later this year, Sony Ericsson will also sponsor a new video segment on MLG.tv highlighting must-have apps and games.
“At MLG, we aim to showcase the latest technology that will benefit our community of gamers,” said Sundance DiGiovanni, CEO of MLG. “Xperia™ PLAY is an amazing smartphone and a stellar gaming device bringing the best mobile capabilities to our audience.”

If you could get your hands on either one, which would you rather use: a Windows Phone 7 Xbox live integrated device or a Sony Ericsson Xperia XPlay device? We know some people have preferences and would like to hear your comments in the boxes below.

You know, I started my PHONE life always wanting my phone to have reception and ensure that the phone was a PHONE and that calls were able to come in and go out…
Then I thought my phone as an Instant messenger, texting back and forth from friend to friend….
THEN came MMS… now it was a picture phone, sending and receiving pictures as I pleased…
3G suddenly was released and overnight, my phone could connect me to the internet at a reasonable speed and became my secondary laptop… 4G has obviously raised this from its former self to now becoming almost a replacement to my current cable internet service…
And now to the article… My phone is now becoming a game console? WOW!!! How technology never seazes to put me at awe… As much as I like to play videogames, I have to say that even though the playing XBOX or PS games on any phone would be awesome, there is the other factors… Battery consumption, Data consumption (to some, this is one of the major issues if u have a small data plan), and even the hassle of having to use (at many times) your only phone line to do this…
Not that I dont like where development and technology are taking our devices… I LOVE IT!!! I just think that not everyone will be influenced in buying a phone just because it can play one game but not the other…
Just my 2c… jejeje
