Finally! HTC is investing money in OnLive to help with smartphone gaming

HTC is investing $40 million into OnLive to help with games on smartphones. Is this what you’ve been waiting for? I know quite a few people who have been waiting on improvements in HTC gaming, hoping they would at least step up their game or let Google take over. This seems like a step forward and maybe will be just what HTC needs.

Last.FM No Longer Free For Most

Internet radio has really taken off within the last few years with services like Pandora, Slacker, and Last.FM. Pandora and Slacker both offer their services for free but also have a premium upgrade package available. So far, Last.FM has always been free, including unlimited skips and a few ads. That’s about to change, because today, Last.FM has announced that they are moving most connected devices over to a subscription-based service. It looks to be $3/month. Streaming through the website will remain free with ads. Also, if you have an XBox or Windows Phone 7 device, you will still get free streaming. Unfortunately, for those on iPhone, Android, and other “connected devices”, you will have to start paying for the subscription on February 15th to continue your streaming. Read more…

Vulnerabilities found in Peep – HTC’s Twitter Application

Recently Raul Siles, Founder and Senior Security Analyst with Taddong.com discovered the Twitter Credentials Disclosure stating the vulnerabilities in the HTC Peep (Twitter) Application. Didn’t know there were any? These could have potentially displayed your Twitter credentials, making them vulnerable to eavesdropping attacks.

Nanosheets with high-tech potential – possibly “Supercapacitors”

Valeria Nicolosi of Britain’s Oxford University and Jonathan Coleman of Ireland’s Trinity College Dublin have led a group of scientists into a new study. The group of scientists have just created a way of splitting materials into ‘nanosheets’ just one atom thick that could possibly lead to new electronic and energy storage technologies, maybe even “Supercapacitors.”
