Windows Phone 7 Announcements Today

As most of you probably know, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer did a Keynote Address today at MWC11 (Mobile World Congress 2011). There were a few things discussed, including the progress of Windows Phone 7 (WP7) and the updates coming later this year. He noted that 9 out of 10 WP7 users would recommend the phones to others and say its one of the easiest smartphone platforms out there. For most of us that have had the chance to play with the phones, it seems to take a week or more for the OS to grow on us, and we agree that its pretty easy to use and intuitive, but that also takes away from the modding community, at least for now.
Ballmer confirmed that the first update will be coming in March and it will include copy/paste and overall performance upgrades, which we all knew about already. It sounds like that's about all this update will include.
As for the bigger update coming later this year, there were 3 major points he hit on. The first one is Internet Explorer 9, which will bring hardware acceleration and HTML5 support. The second one is Skydrive Integration, which hopefully means being able to access Office docs from your phone. The other big one is multitasking, which we all knew was coming as well. He also mentioned Twitter integration into the People Hub in a later update, probably similar to what Facebook does.
Another interesting feature that was demoed was Kinect integration, which would turn your phone into a Kinect companion. See the video below:

He also hinted at CDMA phones (some other sites claiming) all US carriers “Verizon and Sprint” “soon”
microsoft bout to kill them all. 2nd place or even 1st by 2013.
HA HA HA…
David, they’ve been hinting at CDMA coming soon for 5 months and Eric 2013??? You think there isnt going to be improvements across the board in every phone platform to outmatch and outperform what microsoft is aiming for now? Microsoft is consistently a day late and a dollar short. This platform is a joke now and the word KIN comes to mind…

dprout69,
Again, if you have nothing to say besides negitive comments about Windows Phone 7, go get yourself a iPhone or Android and STOP Trolling the Windows Phone 7 information/threads.
YOU DON’T LIKE WP7, WE KNOW, GET OVER IT
We have been over this before

From this point forward, if you keep trolling the WP7 threads, I will just report you. I am done.
As for the topic on hand…
CDMA right now is possable for WP7 in March because of the update. Getting CDMA product released with the update in March is another story (unless it’s finished now and being installed on devices), as geting it rolled out is another story.

We did!
And WE get it too….
You guys refuse to open your mind to anything that doesn’t come from MS.
Again your right but stop trying to convince everyone that WP7 is actually better than something. It isn’t even better than WM6.5! I have run them all and if you want a really cool phone then you had better give up on wanting to run WP7 because it really is not up to the task at all!
It is an iPhone with tiles instead of icons!
Hit a tile, get an app. No tile? Run through a list of EVERY APP no way to prioritize or reorganize it just go through the alphabet!
I mean really I respect your right to use it but please don’t try to convince sane people that it is better than a REAL operating system, Not a computer with a plain block launcher for a today app!
It’s nothing more that a square tile version of titanium with the rest of the OS stripped out!

Even if there was anything you could do about it… which there isnt… well I guess that really says it all right there…
As for the topic on hand… it sux…
As for telling me again… what are you doing besides running around behind me and telling me not to troll? Hmmm… I think that might be trolling…
jackarse
MS just messed up bad…. not prominent release date, no device info, no “launch partner” for cdma announced…
everyone that was holding out, stomach just dropped…. time to move on to whats available by summer….
Unless the June flagship device for Sprint is going to be WP7, dont expect WP7 before mid summer( i say august)… this is my “offical prediction” note it (lol)
