Finally! HTC is investing money in OnLive to help with smartphone gaming

HTC is investing $40 million into OnLive to help with games on smartphones. Is this what you’ve been waiting for? I know quite a few people who have been waiting on improvements in HTC gaming, hoping they would at least step up their game or let Google take over. This seems like a step forward and maybe will be just what HTC needs.

Not sure what OnLive is? Let me explain. OnLive delivers high-end video games from the cloud to your PC, Mac, TV and even mobile devices at blindingly fast speeds. This gives you the freedom to play the games you want, the second you want them. No discs. No downloads. No fancy hardware. Just you, the net and games you love the most.

If not familiar with OnLive you basically pay a monthly fee (membership is free for now) and get to buy games. The games are on their servers and are processed via their “cloud.”.

This is pretty big for cell phones as it can bring in a new generation of games on par with computer gaming to cellphones! I mean imagine playing Crysis at max settings right on your phone!
