Happy New Year To All
To all our PPCGeeks members: Happy New Year!!!!
Microsoft’s DRM for Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Apps apparently has a few holes they need to address.
Recently a white hat hacker successfully made an app that can get into the Marketplace, find any app (paid or free), remove its DRM, and either directly install it to the phone, or save the XAP file. And he did it by himself in just 6 hours!
Welcome to another edition of the PPCG Spotlight, where we get enlightening perspectives and great insight from well known and well accomplished community members. In this edition, we highlight a very widely known member in the community, 2 Bunny.

The title says it all! Google’s Android Market is now home to over 200,000 applications according to an independent Android app tracker AndroLib.com. Some may argue that Apple’s App Store for the iPhone, iPod and iPad may still be on the first position, with over 300k applications available for download for its users, but the Andriod Market is still consistenly increasing.

So here we are at the end of a year, Microsoft has released their new flagship OS, Windows Phone 7…Love it or Hate it – you have to agree it is a fresh start. With a fresh start we find ourselves asking what applications are out for my phone. Well let’s just start by saying that in the short life that the Windows Marketplace has been up and working it has reached 5,000 applications. Now please don’t take it as a HUGE deal, and such but it is for Microsoft that less than 3 months ago had absolutely no app store support.
One of the greatest features of Windows Phone 7 has got to be the clean, speedy, distinctive UI which manages to offer a different and instantly recognisable experience in a market where competitors are simply copying the Apple iOS. It has been no secret that Microsoft has been VERY protective of the UI and home screen, hoping to avoid the past “mistakes” of allowing OEMs to modify the users experience to the point of being un-useable and unrecognisable. However, HTC wishes to bring its own unique modifications and customisations to the WP7 experience – and believes, over time, Microsoft will allow them to do just that.
Its been a long wait for anxious Bold users but the time has officially arrived, at least for sprint members. Sprint has officially released OS 6.0.0.415 for the Bold 9650.
PPCGeeks will be back with news for you after this Christmas Holiday. Merry Christmas to all!!
The North Face was kind enough to send us a pair of E-Tip gloves for PPCGeeks to evaluate. How do they stack up as an accessory for you to use day-in and day-out? Let’s find out…
I have recently been given the opportunity to review the Powermat 2x Mat and Dual 1850 battery pack, courtesy of the Michigan based company. To start out I would like to note that before I used the battery pack, I was the kind of person whom toted at least 3 fully charged batteries with me wherever I’d go.
As gTen would say, this phone is Amazing, some others would say this phone needs Android 2.2. Sprint users of the Epic 4g have been patiently awaiting for Froyo to be available officially on this device. It’s almost here!!!
Recently added to the Windows Phone Marketplace were Verizon Wireless compatible Windows Phone 7 applications. We all know that VZW is rumored to be releasing a WP7 or more than one WP7 device in the beginning of 2011. Clearly this just assures us that Big Red is getting prepared but doesn’t give us anymore information than that.
