A few weeks ago we updated this article letting you all know the source code was quietly released for the HTC G2, which meant that eventually someone would be successful in permanently rooting the device. Well, it’s been done! Scott Walker and a few helpers at XDA are the ones to thank for making this successful with what little materials they had.

According to two tipsters at Information Technology, HTC is currently hiring staff to prepare for the possible launch of an online store. One of the tipsters reports that HTC was hiring content editors for a planned online HTC store for its phones, including for e-books and magazines as well as for applications. As far as he understands, the team is going to consist of a small staff based in Taiwan, with plans to expand to 100 people in different locations around the world. With tips like this it sounds pretty promising!

This time I have gotten a chance to review the Otterbox Defender for my HTC Droid Incredible. I can say this 3-in-1 case does provide incredible protection for my incredible phone!

We’ve just received word from our PR contacts at Verizon the DROID Pro has landed. The device will be running the 3G network @ 179.99 after mail-in rebate. That’s 20 dollars less than the typical and the features make this a midrange, above average phone for the on the go user. One advantage is the QWERTY thumbpad, a new addition in the DROID lineup of Android Smartphones by Verizon Wireless, HTC, and Motorola. We’re excited to see how popular the device runs and expect to get a review unit in soon with a review to coincide this release! Stay tuned Geeks! Full press release inside.

As you can tell the HD2 has successfully taken on another operating system thanks to the advanced Chinese phone users over at XDA. Not only does the HD2 run Android, Windows Mobile, Ubuntu and more, it also will run Windows Phone 7. Most of you knew this day would come and here it is.

So If you are like Courtney1985 (from here on out she will be referred to as Courtney) around here on PPCG you are consistently asking me or other fellow WP7 PPCG’s what the heck Live Tiles are. Well in short, a Tile is your application on the home screen in WP7, which is how you access what you …

According to Androidheadlines, Japanese carrier Softbank will be launching a couple of phones that will feature glasses-free 3D displays. Isn’t that just more awesome news for the day? Each model will have a 1 GHz Snapdragon chip, and one of them (the 003SH) will have a 9.6 MP camera, while the other (the 005SH) will have an 8 MP camera.

Apparently Samsung Mobile is currently developing a 4.5″, flexible, AMOLED screens and they seem very interesting. Yesterday, BGR mentioned that Samsung may be doing this and today they have found an image showing you an example of the screen found at Samsungamoled. This just lets us know that is definitely is happening. I think it’s exciting!

So the luming question about Windows Phone 7 and the live tiles is: How much data do we need to plan for? Is this going to be a HUGE spike in service costs since everything is live, from cloud data? Or is this going to be about same usage as other phones? Well my fellow PPCG Fans we do have an answer for you! Although it is still early in the game it does not look like WP7 uses abnormal amounts compared to Apple’s iPhone. It fact it looks like less!
