A Windows XP Smartphone

The recently announced xpPhone, yes that means it runs Windows XP in case you didn’t know, is finally available in stores. This unique device comes in four different colors: black, white, silver or red. You have the option to get an 8 or 16GB series, your choice.

The xpPhone is now on sale after almost two years of rumors and the prices are ranging from $660 to $876. Those are high prices to me but maybe it’s worth it? The options you can choose from in either the 8 or 16GB series device are WIN XP Embedded edition with 3G, WIN XP Embedded Edition without 3G or even the good ol’ DOS OS edition without 3G. Looking at the specs in the image above this device seems very similar to any other smarphone on the market. The huge 4.8″ screen is a very nice feature as well as the front-facing camera. Another great spec is the support of SDPA, HSUPA and EVDO so you can connect to the internet and make calls anytime anywhere with it. One more thing, xpPhone not only has the common call and message sending/receiving functions, but also enables video chat and VoIP service, which greatly saves your communication fee! What do you think about this device? Are the prices too high? Do you know someone with one? Let us hear your thoughts!

Thanks for the tip WanderingMinstrel!
