HTC and Samsung Take a look at Windows Phone 7′s Future
Windows Phone 7 is still new to the market as we know. HTC and Samsung both are really excited about this new contender in the phone world. It is still unknown though if Microsoft's Mobile fame comes back and they become the top dog; but these device manufacturues are getting more and more excited as the days go by; placing bigger bets on the Windows Phone 7 card.
In a recent interview with AsiaOne, HTC Thailand manager Nattawat Woranopaku said "HTC will be focused both on Android and Windows Phone 7 based smart phones. These platforms have the biggest potential market." It is expected by 2012 that the combination of Android and WP7 will be the vast majority of the world's smart-phone market. The Taiwanese company already has five Windows Phone 7 devices, and we can expect even more to be released in the coming year.
Now for Samsung...They seem to have gone balls to the walls when it comes to Microsoft's new mobile platform as Sitthichoke Nopchinabutr, head of mobile marketing in Thai Samsung Electronics' Telecommunication Unit, mentioned that they will introduce 15 to 20 new smartphone models -- take that for a near future line-up -- using Windows Phone 7, and Android as well as its own "Bada" operating system. "For every 50 smartphones using Windows, it will make 24 using Android and five using Bada". Just for the sake of numbers, that's 63.3% for Windows Phone 7, 30.4% for Android and 6.3% for Bada. With the Korean company already on a winning streak with the Galaxy S (and who knows about the refresh or the Nexus S), we might expect some great Windows Phone 7 hardware to arrive next year.

Like I keep saying, this is gonna be gooooooooood! lol *munches on popcorn
Microsoft really shot themselves in the foot for taking so damn long to release their new OS. Not only that but the majority of the features that attracted many die hard winmo fans are long gone. I mean seriously, there are more things I should be worried about than trying to figure out how to get a larger microSD card installed. Google should be thanking microsoft for their business since the majority of winmo users simply gave up and went with android instead. It will take a hailmary from the gods themselves for microsoft get back what they once had, at best they will be in third place.
I personally think the only reason the device makers are pushing support for and releasing new models with Win7 is the fact they don’t want to be limited to just one OS for their future units.
They will never get Apple’s OS to use so they need to be able to keep more than one OS maker in business to ensure they are going to have competitive license pricing.
Best way to do that is support Win7 and make sure it has some marketshare.
If Win7 fails then every unit not made by Apple will be a Droid. I personally don’t think it would be a bad thing but I can see where the device manufacturers would!

i’m using evo because my touch pro2 is simply too slow. i hate this device a little less that palm os and web os. when wp7 comes out this phone is gone!
as for the sdcard issue… as per apple 270,000 users daily buy or enable the iphone and none have an option to change their storage. the numbers speak for themselves.
@itster
Come on now, the iphone is a little different. The iphone never had an option to change memory or upgrade it, where it was pretty standard on most winmo phones. The iphone didn’t have copy and paste when it first came out and it eventually did get it with an update. Why is the copy and paste feature made news for winmo7? Thats just stupid, its a feature that was always there. You don’t give your customers all sorts of options then take it all away with the new OS. My point is MS have changed their model big time and because of that they will alienate the majority of their diehard fans and make those go else where which is more than lickly android regardless of how badass winmo7 turns out to be. Some may stay with winmo7 just because they are even more die hard but the reality is MS f’d up taking so long and they f’d up going more towards the iphone way of doing things. Look at multitasking, neither android nor iOS can do real multitasking like winmo can but is microsoft taking advantage of that? NO
I took that route. The day after the GSM-only announcement for WP& I bought an Epic 4G. Idiots.@themuffinman -
wow lots of fandroidium posts here and there will likely be more such posts below me. you guys just feel threatened by the newcomer.
Too little and too late!!! Although I will keep my eye on it from the distance!!!
I certainly don’t feel threatened by Win7. Hell I’m still using an old TouchPro cause I was waiting to see it.
Win7 just doesn’t look or sound like a finished product yet. I think it is more about the Business Model than the User right now.
Give the phone few features and then charge them at the marketplace for functionality!
I will wait just a while more to see what the new jailbreaking of Win7 does to the platform and how much development there is.
But I won’t wait much longer, it’s long overdue for the upgrade and if nothing happens to change my opinion on Win7 I will just get a Droid for the next two years.

You are joking right? I don’t see any fanboy remarks, everything that has been said is basically true. I have been a massive fan of winmo for years and have owned several winmo phones so you can say that I was a winmo fanboy indefinitely but I am not gonna be stupid and close minded. Fact is MS has been sitting on their asses not doing much of anything. Seriously, what is the big difference between winmo 5, 6, 6.1, 6.5, 6.5.x? And this is a span of over 4 to 5 years and all they came up with is winmo 6.5? The fact is if you gonna make people wait then come out swinging for the fences with features and function, don’t come out behind everyone else then hope marketing is gonna save you.
@themuffinman – they werent behind anyone, WM was and probably still is the most capable OS, there just wasnt hardly any developer support. nothing can be more capable than an actual PC that can go into your pocket which is also a phone. so try again infeliz
