Over The Air Update for Evo 4G

Are you a proud owner of the HTC Evo 4G? If so, you should be seeing an OTA update if you haven’t already. This update is said to bring you to version 3.30.651.3 and will fix the bugs reported while using Qik or Tango. According to users of this device that is definitely what’s happening.

According to Sprint, previously you may have experienced the following issue with your HTC Evo™ 4G:

  • Your EVO may turn off and back on when you attempt to access the camera through applications like Qik when your EVO is running system software version 3.30.651.2.
  • In some cases the device may repeatedly turn off and on and it may be necessary to perform a hard reset. Please note: performing a hard reset of your EVO will erase all the data from the device.
  • This repeated power cycling is most often caused by the Tango application. You should avoid installing this software on your device until we have identified a fix for this issue.

Reportedly only users with the newest EVO 4G’s that are currently version 3.30.651.2 should need/receive this update. We aren’t positive that is the case. At Android Central they are seeing and hearing reports from several people who are using the older version software and being prompted for the update. Have you gotten one on your evo? What version software did you have before? We’d like to know if this is going to be available to everyone or just the ones stated. Thanks!
