World’s First Android Direct Connect Phone, The Sprint Motorola i1

This morning Sprint announced its first Android Direct Connect phone, the Motorola i1. We’re not sure how many people still use Direct Connect anymore, but for those that want a smartphone that’s not a Blackberry, here’s your chance! It’ll be available on July 25th through telesales and web sales. It will be in stores on August 8th. It’ll be $149.99 with a two-year agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate.

You can read more about it on Sprint’s dedicated page. It meets Military 810F specs with a 3.1″ HVGA screen made with Monster Glass. The biggest downside is that it comes with the dated Android 1.5 operating system instead of the newer 2.1 or 2.2. It will also have WiFi and a 5MP camera.
