Sprint Evo Screen Separation?

There's been some reports going around of people experiencing glass separation issues on their new Sprint Evo's. There's been some people in our forums discussing this same issue. In the image about, you can see that its usually the lower portion of the screen, and while it may not look bad right now, it would probably get worse over time and allow dust and condensation to get under the glass, which is never good. There's been no official word from HTC or Sprint yet regarding this issue.
For you Evo owners, have you experienced this yet? If you check the Settings > About > Hardware Information, it appears that there's two hardware versions of the Evo out there, a 002 and a 003. If you're experiencing this issue, which hardware revision do you have?

Version 0002 here, no screen problems so far, Ive had it since launch day
havent had the issue yet. but mine stays at the office and i only use it to show customers.
002, no probs
I have a feeling is from the people that put it in their pockets….flexing and bending of the device may be seperating the screen a bit….I’m not sure…but it’s something I believe HTC will fix in the next few months!
Mine is 002. Havent noticed that, but I’ve had a case on mine since June 5th.
0002 here, im assuming this one would be the crappier one?
0003 n no problem yet
As a side note, remember the HTC Diamond ‘oil on water’ effect screen issue. It was, and has been proven to be a manufacturing defect affecting screen layer separation issue. For months, Sprint nor HTC acknowledged this problem, and many reps were blaming the customer for the problem such as sweat, water, pressure on the screen, etc. Sprint did start to replace the devices, because the problem was happening often. The issue was occurring with many touch screen devices, not just HTC.
Hopefully, if this issue is a widespread problem, and not just a couple of isolated cases due to handling and user causes, that HTC and Sprint will acknowledge this issue promptly, and correct the problem.
version 0003 and I see the light near the search button…..smh
002 no problems
0002, no problems so far. And I keep my phone in my pocket with a soft case.
Sigh… Yeah, mine seems to be doing it. I don’t ever keep it in my pocket, and I’ve been rockin’ a Platinum case since launch date. I wonder what this will all lead to…
From what I gather elsewhere, 002 is the better one (surprise) and 003 is almost always the affected one.
Only thing I see is light coming coming from the 4 keys. I have 0002.
I don’t know what version I have, but I made love to my Evo last night!
Oh what a mindbender!!
003 and no problems yet. I use a silcon case and keep it in my pocket all the time.
NO F**KING WAY, MINES SEPARATING! VERSION 002
0002 here…. and it seems the bottom left of mine is coming up as well… never has been in my pocket… has been in the HTC EVO leather case since the day I got it, release day…
0003, bottom left corner, noticed on Saturday and called Sprint, replacement should be here today.
003 and I have no issues so far. I put mine in my pocket every day. I have been using the case that Sprint sold me at the store. The one that comes with gray, blue, or red colors.
My boss has got a version 002 that seems like it’s just starting to separate, and I have a new one arriving today that I will inspect out of the box first and report back on.
I got seperation near the home button
This is the same thing that took place with the tp1 and tp2. Its always the first batch thats rush rush and not look at QC as hard until u build up stock….Its always the case and always will. First yr cars are worst then yr 2…my 2cents.
im sure they will replace the device but what sux is when you install a screen protector on the device and then replacing it.
third paragraph under hardware

I noticed a light bleeding affect coming from the bottom of the screen after only 2 days of use. when I pushed the screen down in that area the bleeding would stop. I soon realized that it was that the bottom of the screen was separating.
I truly pampered the Evo with all the cushiony amenities that one could think of. So for those suggesting that its because some users are mishandling the device, I think its absurb. this is no doubt a manufacturing flaw.
with the continued use (even typing this very message) I’m noticing the screens responsiveness fading by the day.
Sprint needs to address this issue. I absolutely love my phone, but now I feel like there are kinks in its armour.
maybe i’ll wait another couple of weeks before I get mine…thanks for the engadget post – very informative!
Well the responsiveness issue may be a bit of an exaggeration. It could be chalked up to my perception as far as usability, but it does indeed seem like something is going on with this screen.
My version 002 is suffering from the screen separation, its defiantly starting to loose responsiveness as well. Very noticeable when I type something.
Version 002 here, got on June 5th. Zagg full body shield and crystal Case. F@#@$! I have this issue. I do keep it in my pocket cuz those belt holsters look retarded! Great another HTC issue.
Count me in now. I got mine Friday and had it charging in the dark and saw light creeping through. Pissed.
version 0002 here with no problems. got it june 4th, put it in my pocket many times before i got a black silicon like case from best buy last monday. i still put it in my pocket from time to time. took it out today and checked but no sign of lifting.
002 and mine is separating on the whole bottom now that I look at in the light. All you have to do is lightly push on it and watch it spring back up!
Now that I look at it even more 85% of my screen has the bounce effect! Damn!
i got 03 and i dont seem to have this issue. yet. lets hope we dont and those that do get it fixed freely!!!
I got my evo 5 days ago and it’s had very light usage… it’s screen on the bottom left is coming up. On the bottom right it’s completely down, I can feel the different with my nail though it isn’t easy to see. Pressing on the screen on the bottom left side it’s back “in.” This isn’t good eh!
Why so surprised? Htx is known to make the worst quality devices in the market.
version 002 separation under the home key with light leakage and light leakage with no visible separation under the search key.
@nitussi –
sounds like your screen is spring loaded…
AndroidTroll,
not true, the tp2 is very solid
well damn…that is probably why my phone is at sprint right now getting fixed
day 6 of ownership i took a shower, the phone was on the sink area… it never got wet… but the screen was water spotted inside and eventually the LCD died
i did this with my iphone for 2 years and never had one problem
now i know why
thank god for bestbuy black tie protection plan, not paying a dime to fix
I have 003 covered with the black sleeve from Sprint with no peel and no light bleed a la http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/19/htc-evo-4g-review/ and this is the most sic phone ever.
I have the 003 model, and yes the bottom part of my screen is peeling off.. I’m still under the manufacture warranty this sounds like a defect and should be replace.. Has anyone dealt with sprint regarding this yet? I’ve just notice it after reading this blog.
thx
My 1st phone was fine, but my replacement phone has the screen sperating.
