WiMAX-enabled HTC Supersonic rumored to debut on Sprint at CTIA

The latest buzz on the street is that Sprint plans to unveil the HTC Supersoinc, the fist handset compatible with Sprint’s 4G data network, at the CTIA next week. The device will be running on Sprint’s new WiMax network, which is claimed to offer speeds up to 10 times faster than its current network. The Supersonic is claimed to be sporting a 4.3 –inch non-AMOLED touchscreen, a Snapdragon (1GHz) processor and only measure in at 11mm thick and running Android 2.1 with Sense UI. I guess we will have to wait for the CTIA next week to find out more on this highly anticipated handset.

maybe sprint/htc for fucking once has done a half way decent job of keeping a new smart phone a secret for a while
non amoled? is this better than touch capacitive like the iphone?
OMG! H4x0r! I cant wait for this! I am tired of these sluggish Pro 1 and pro 2 phones.
How is this a latest buzz lol, when it was posted right here on forums over 2 weeks ago? Here is hte post and the whole thread with all the info about SuperSonic

Also from the same thread(above) Supersonic will be announced specifically on the morning of march 24 during Dan Hesse’s(CEO of Sprint) keynote. Read the rest of info about Supersonic in the thread above
anyone have a guess on when this might be released or price?
loving Sprint now. great job.
is there a link for a source on this besides PPCG?
Yeah baby come to papa!
I hope they have some killer comercials built for it to slap AT&T and Verizon in the face with 4G + coverage.
will they charge extra for wimax? This may throw a wrench in my plans to leave sprint and go to who ever gets the HTC Desire in the USA.
If they were smart they wouldn’t change the price. Just make it all future devices with data 4G = Mess up the other 3G carriers business big time. More bang for your buck right now = gold to consumers eyes in this economy. If they raise the price for only the Early takers = bad old business move that will not net them near what they could get.
I know that second/third hand info doesn’t really count for much, but I was in a Sprint store yesterday and when they, yet again, tried to force me to re-up my contract, I said I was holding out to see where phones like the Supersonic would go. The rep told me that:
a) Sprint was getting the Supersonic
b) They were the only ones in the US getting it
c) It would be covered in the “Simply Everything” plan
Like jimmiekain, I have been dying to get away from Sprint, but if they do get the Supersonic, I would have a hard time not just re-upping with them in December when my contract it up
Might be old news but was worthy to post it in the news section, I myself cannot wait for this to hit. It was either this or the Nexus One for me. I hope Sprint gets it right and does not cripple anything as in the past.
read a rumor on boygenius that it may come out next week to…
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/03/17/sprint-to-announce-and-possibly-launch-the-htc-supersonic-next-week/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheBoyGeniusReport+%28Boy+Genius+Report%29
I doubt it will come out next week. They will announce it next week though. Sprint is getting the supersonic and now they also are getting the nexxus. Sprint is really trying to get back in the game. Although I think they got back in the game when they introduced the everything plans but these phones are going to help a lot. I think I’m sticking with supersonic over nexxus. Supersonic will have sense and all the htc enhancements. I hope its a world phone.
Actually thats a bad thing, take the Palm Pre or the HTC Hero for instance. Phone sales are all about the hype, the more people that know about it, the more that want it as soon as it comes out. Only reason iPhone had a pop like it did when it first came out is because everybody knew about it.@JQuill -
