HTC HD2 on Tmobile March 24th?
An image popped up on TMONews.com this evening which shows the HTC HD2 with a launch date of March 24th on Tmobile. The image outlines it will be available with a launch price of $199.99 when signing 2 year contract on a qualifying plan with data. This is substantially less than the Touch Pro2's current contract price of $269.
Sporting a 4.3 inch screen and a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor this is one beautiful beast that will surely attract the eye of even the most dedicated iPhone and Nexus One owners. The HD2 comes loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 and a customized multimedia software bundle to showcase it's screen including: preloaded copies of Transformers™ and Transformers 2, MobiTV® mobile television on demand, GoGo® inflight wifi trial, and Barns & Noble and Blockbuster software pre-installed.
This device has been a long time coming for PPCGeeks.com forum members. Some have even forked out upwards of $800 dollars for an unlocked HD2 from europe. The $199 price tag will likely make this phone a hit and might even lure a few over to big pink. Hey! one of our forum users has already been spotted with one!

I wanna know if Sprint is going to let this one get away.
What I wouldnt do for Sprint to release this phone with a physical keyboard… That would be the perfect final WM 6.5 device
No…no Keyboard is fine ….with a 4.3 screen??? who needs a keyboard…. But Sprint let one more go!!!!!! I’m getting so Pis@*&-off at Sprint… always the same crap!!!! These guys are really screwing up… this is cheaper than the TP2, and twice the phone…. Flash… 5MP camera… 1GHz Snapdragon??? come on Sprint …Wake up… and smell the roses…. you are going to loose customers…AGAIN!!!!!..
JP
Don’t count on sprint getting this phone. it’s not going to happen:(
I bought my TP2 middle of Feb. When news broke last week about the 3/24 release at $200 being 95% real, I called T-mobile and complained. They outlined the 14 day “buyer’s remorse” policy and said too bad you were in CA b/c it’d be 30.
I claimed this isn’t buyer’s remorse, its an outright sham!! I paid $283 w/ tax for my TP2 and now you’re saying a phone twice as good, albeit, lacking a physical keyboard, is coming out at a lower price point? that is outright crazy!! She said there was nothing they could do, at that time they fed me the line of them ‘not knowing’ when it would come out, so they didn’t see how they could help me..
One thing she mentioned that if you do call and complain, they can put the note in ur account that u qualify for the early upgrade in as little as one month time after buying and extending your last phone/contract. So, to shell out another $200 for this?? maybe, if it ran WP7S!!
Maybe with WP7 being so branded and not able to use other UIs such as sense and the like, maybe HTC will release the exclusivity to T-mobile…who knows, my fingers are crossed. I read today WP7 won’t have copy/paste nor removeable storage, so that’s an out for me. Its bad enough you took away the customization of it and then I can’t have HTC Touch Flo, Sense, or any of that…I can’t see me upgrading to 7 now…
So i’m not thinkin Sprint will get this phone – but damn if I’m still not hoping! T-MO is too expensive with they family plans and charging extra for every lil thing for me to switch….
Oh the pain! : (
At this point anything released with 6.5 is a waste of my time and my money. even if sprint were to some how manage to get this. I would be tempted but whats the point when wm7 is so close to being released.
@themuffinman – well wm7 is far off the radar way later this year, by the time it comes out you could probably resell the HD2 and buy a WM7 phone for not much more $, not to mention the fact that ROMs will probably be ported to the HD2, if the only hardware limit is “it doesn’t have those stupid 3 keys”
@orangekid – Well I guess you do have a point. I guess I am just wanting something new, I am tired of looking at basically the same windows mobile over the years and even though there are some things I do like about windows mobile 7, there are alot of little things that really has me upset. I know the iphone is very successful but microsoft is trying a little to hard to be like apple. They may gain alot of apple customers but they will end up losing alot of their own costumers to android which is what I am starting to consider.
Sprint just blow this! I cant believe it.
Man just makes a guy a little sad he paid 450 for his TP2 only to see this come out now for 199. Just checked Tmobile website and acted like I was gonna sign up and pricing is about identical to sprint in fact I get 50 more minutes a month. I think Ill just buy out the rest of my sprint contract and switch on over….
OK well i’m on sprint and not really impressed by this phone cause i have a tp2 and have keyboard the only thing this has that makes me jealous is the snapdragon processor i could care less about the flash and the capacitive bigger screen i mean honestly how big of a screen do u need the tp2 screen is plenty big however if htc would make this hd2 wit a slide out tilting screen keyboard then i would definitely switch to the sh**ty service t-mobile. As for the price difference i only paid 250 for my tp2 so i pretty much paid 50 bucks for the keyboard totally worth it and as for wm7 7 ill probably switch to android or iphone or stick with my 6.5.x rom on my tp2 if wm 7 doesn’t get hacked or modded so u can customize everything and i hate zunes so i don’t think i would like windows 7 at all considering that its pretty much a modified zune interface. There is my super long opinion lol
