If you remember back in December, there was the T-Mobile HTC leaked roadmap, and on that list was the HTC Tera, which was slated for an April release. Well, it looks like they’re behind schedule, because now rumor has it that it will be a Q3 2010 release and will only have Windows Mobile 6.5 on it. Its rumored to have a 3″ WQVGA resistive touchscreen, dualband HSPA, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and GPS/aGPS. It’s based on Qualcomm’s 600MHz MSM7227 chipset with 512MB of ROM and 256MB of RAM, and measures 115 x 53 x 15.5 mm. This could be the Touch Pro 3, or possibly a Touch Pro 2 Mini (similar to the HD Mini). So, with Windows Phone 7 just around the corner, would you buy this phone? We’re thinking most people will wait for Windows Phone 7 to ship.

Just upgraded to the TP2 back in October, I don’t think my next upgrade is going to be until a significantly more powerful phone (perhaps Snapdragon processor?) with a physical keyboard and Windows Phone 7 comes out….
hoepfully its not marketed as the touch pro 3 more like a touch pro mini…
My next mobile is goning to be a HTC mobile with full qwerty keybord, minimum snapdragon cpu. OS is going to be a wm6.6 or wp7.1/wp7.5…
I am not happy with wp7 concepts…
It can be a Android, if wp7 don’t stopps to play wannabe iPhone…
resistive touchscreen? i thought all the new phones were using touch capacitive like the iphone? damn this old technology
all of you already took the words out of my mouth who would get a smaller version of the phones we have … a sucker!?
terrible idea. we (tp2 owners) need something that looks, performs, feels like a HD2 w/ a sliding / tilting QWERTY keyboard. this is NOT an upgrade. this is a slap in the face by HTC
Um, no thank you
no way…..makes no sense…..will wait….
@popularbelief420 – I don’t think this is intended to be a upgrade. It seems more like an alternative. Giving the consumer level more choice, as the TP2 seemed targeted at corporate/business, this version would fit the smaller profile that younger consumers want. (so it would seem).
Just my $0.02 – (I’ll stick with my TP2)
Sounds to me like HTC is blindly following their roadmap no matter what new and emerging technologies have raised the bar since they created that roadmap!
I’m personally not sold on Windows7 myself….have to see it first.
But at this point phone manufacturers like HTC should be working on designs that are not limited to specific Operating Systems.
yeah i only go forward in phone and pc hardware!!
I for one would still love to own a Snapdragon with capacitive touch, physical keyboard and WVGA screen. WM 6.5 or higher and Sense 2.5 or higher, and I would be ECSTATIC! I would be willing to let me Touch Pro 2 take its chances on EBay even if it meant shelling out another $600. To me, WM6.5 with Titanium, and Sense 2.5, is about as good as it will ever be for phones with the ability to download and install free apps. I refuse to move to a closed platform. WM7 could be the most amazing thing in the world, but I doubt it will be, so closed platform says no dice for me. Just bring me a Snapdragon WM6.5 Touch Pro 3!!!
Just wait untill the 7 Series phone hits the self @ sprint !

@jhw549 – +1
i will wait til wp7 comes out i love my tp2 but i will not downgrade to a lil version of tp2 is htc serious oh well!i love what i seen with wp7 so that will be my next upgrade!
@BillJr106 –
I am 1000% agree with you…
I also refuse to move to a closed platform like wp7…

Absolutely not. Stepping down to a smaller screen again is NOT an upgrade. I love my Touch Pro 2, and I’d love an HD2 if it came to Sprint. My next upgrade will be Windows Phone 7 too.
HTC Touch, then
HTC Touch Pro, then
HTC Touch Pro2, then
HTC Touch Pro 1.5?
I am not in that demographic.
Android looks ever sweeter, when I hear things like this.
Both HTC and MS dropped the ball with these upcoming WM phones
I think so too tp2 looks the best so far will see if wp7 can do it cant wait
I don’t think windows 7 as of now is looking too good. They say that windows 7 will not have multitasking and none of the windows 7 phone will have a memory card slot. @jhw549 -
I wouldn’t buy this thing with Mindfrost82′s money…
The more I hear about Windows Phone 7 the more I hate it. Most of us use windows mobile because we need the functionality of a computer. 7 gives us a shitty phone os that can’t do anything. Hell I heard today that it can’t even copy and paste. Oh but it looks pretty. I need a tool not a toy! If the touch pro 2 ends up being the last of the true windows mobile phones I will be sad. I really thought someone there at microsoft really understood that winmo users didn’t care about looks and gimmicks. We just wanted performance. I hope that people more skilled than I find a way to hack 6.5 to the fullest.
I must admit, I used to have the iphone and then played with the android. Well, needless to say, I truly believe that these technical changes are geared more towards the younger (10-17) year olds that aren’t into the sophistication of a true winmo phone like tp2. I’ve yet seen someone from corporate america play with an android just like I’ve yet to see a 12 year old to be so tech savy ’bout hacking, epansion slots winmo microsoft word and excell apps.
I just think that they’re focusing thier attention on the younger market base to sell more (cooler) phones. At least thats what I’m hoping for!
