Motorola Milestone Coming To Telus On Feb. 18th

Back in January, we reported on a rumor that At&t was getting the Milestone (GSM version of the Droid). It appears this version of the Milestone is headed for Telus. While Telus hasn't officially announced a release date for the Milestone, Best Buy Canada has put up a Pre-Order page that gives us a February 18th date. At&t users could be happy to hear this as well, since Telus supports the At&t 3G bands of 850/1900MHz. Of course you'll have to pay full price for it and unlock it, but given how popular the Droid has been on Verizon, it may be worth it if you want to experience full 3G with Android on At&t and don't want to wait for the Motorola Backflip or one of the 5 Android devices At&t promised is coming in the first half of 2010..

buying an unlocked device so you can use it on your inferior and overpriced 3G network seems like backwards logic.
considering this beauty comes with
-Android 2.0
-a 3.7″ 16M colors capacitive multitouch screen
-a Next Generation Arm Cortex A8 Processor
-5 MP Dual LED Flash Camera
-Wifi/Bluetooth/Proximity Sensor/and Accelerometer
-Qwerty Keyboard with a Directional Pad
Some it doesn’t seem too odd for someone to adopt an unlocked Milestone, because it depends on everyone specific needs, i.e keyboard/android 2.0
@orangekid – If you bring an unlocked phone to At&t, you can get the cheaper internet plan (I pay $30 for internet and unlimited text, which is about the same across all carriers).
Of course, this thing might come to At&t this year too, which means you could get it subsidized for a cheaper price, but then you would be stuck with the higher prices “smartphone” data plan.
@mindfrost82 – ok, but you’re probably going to want to talk on the phone as well right (unless you use google voice exclusively), the talk + text + data plans I’ve seen are $80 at the cheapest?
couple that with the fact that so many people i know get 3G turning on and off so randomly with ATT, in order to sell more I don’t get why they wouldn’t just make it also compatible with Tmo’s 3G bands.
@Deimoss – those are some nice specs, is it 1ghz? how much ram?
up to 600mhz on the processor, It allows 550Mhz stock
there are some diffrent specs of processors for it, one found on the Motorola dev site states the Moto Droid and Milstone have TI OMAP3430 up to 600mhz aswell as the Droid
http://developer.motorola.com/products/milestone/
On the United States Motorola Site it states the Moto Droid as having an Arm Cortex A8 @550mhz
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/ci.Motorola-DROID-US-EN.alt
Both considered next gen processors although the Developers might have had special devices, anyone care to verify?
OMAP3430 is the Texas Instruments Series 3 architecture. It is not just the processor.
The OMAP3430 has the Arm Cortex A8 processor in it.
