Sources have said that Microsoft will announce Windows Mobile 6.6 in February, possible around the time of the Mobile World Congress. This is probably the WM6.5.3 builds that we’ve seen floating around, which are supposed to be focused towards the use of capacitive touchscreens, such as the HD2.
In other news, the sources have also said that WM7 is delayed until 2011 instead of the end of 2010 like was originally rumored.

Ridiculous…6.6, what’s the point? Windows is slowly loosing market share to it’s more able competitors…RIM, Apple, Google, and this will just keep draining it further.
the only thing that can possibly make this worth-while, is IF/when wm7 is released it is a complete winner right out-of-the-box. no glitches, no patching. that’s the way i see it, anyway. but – it is microsoft.
Windows is slowly loosing market, but they are not going anywhere yet, I certainly hope that WM7 is good they will need it be good. I also hope that my phone will be able to support the upcoming versions of windows mobile as well. We’ll see.
I guess if WM7 is going to be that delayed then I’d be happy to get new versions of windows dropped every couple of months. Get new tastes of what Microsoft is up to instead of dealing with 6.1/6.5 for another year. I look at it like the constant updates that the iPhone, Blackberry and Google phones get every few months.
Well maybe it will be a major jump from 6.5.3…Who knows, 6.5 blows away 6.1 but, I still need to be impressed yet…

Why is microsoft slacking so much on windows mobile? Apple and Google are constantly making updates. This is just ridiculous.
