Sprint Releases Official 2016 SMS Fix for 3 Devices
Sprint has released an official fix for the 2016 SMS Timestamp bug that has been plaguing a multitude of devices since the new year. The following devices have fixes waiting to be downloaded as of now (clicking on device name will send you to download page)-
This fix, as told by HTC, is for the following issue-
SMS TIMESTAMPS DISPLAY AN INCORRECT YEAR
This is a known issue. Please follow the instructions below to download and install a hotfix that will correct this issue. The hotfix will resolve the issue causing incoming SMS messages to display the incorrect year, and it will correct the incorrect year on SMS messages that were received prior to installing this hotfix.
Interestingly, HTC advises you to make sure your device is in Airplane mode while installing this patch. I installed it without being in airplane mode on my Touch Pro2 and everything is working fine.
Please note that-
- This hotfix will need to be reinstalled if the device is hard reset. Also, the hotfix cannot be installed again until the device is hard reset.
- If any software was installed to bypass the MCTS functionality of the device, the device may need to be hard reset prior to this hotfix being installed.

Yeah, the regedit will get us by for now, but I hope someone can remove the version check from this update…

My Sprint TP2 texts have NOT had time stamps for a while. They are only stamped with a date.
Will this fix this issue?
i’m still running the o.g. rom on my touch pro 1. I have 2 update 2 the new rom just 2 install this fix. That’s wack. I have alot of apps installed. I’ll just wait and see if I ever have 2 reinstall and then i will add the new rom.
do we really even need to Install this?

what would this do if you hve the “disable sent notification” cab instaled? thanx
I installed this cab, although it fixed the 2016 issue. it some how disabled threaded sms. anyone know how to get it back?

im getting a error message stating:this hotfix will support HTC touch Pro ver2.0.1.651.6 0×30
this so called hot fix has screwed my messaging up. my sms dnt pop up on the tf3d screen anymore gotta hit all messages to get to my new ones. on top of tht some still pop up wit 2016 on em. good job sprint
I’m running sprint stock rom, I followed all instructions including turning airplane mode on, but is says “Installation of patch was unsuccessful”. Anyone else have this problem?
anyone has the hotfix for the tp2? had to do a hard reset and im back at the annoying 2016 crap
