And the winner is…
The iPhone 3GS, which is apparently the highest rated smartphone according to Consumer Reports. However, the Palm Pre, the Blackberry Storm, and other BlackBerry models bested the iPhone in messaging, and the Pre is a superior multi-tasker. And what phone do you think came in second? It is not an Android phone, but rather a Windows Mobile device. Of all the phones that run Windows Mobile, the prize goes to the Verizon Touch Pro2. Interestingly, the Verizon Touch Pro2 was rated number 1 in the business phone class, outscoring the iPhone, all Blackberry's, and any Android devices. Seems to me that Windows Mobile might pull ahead and become a leader in the Smartphone wars again.
How do you take this news? Is this proof that the Windows Mobile platform still has some life in it or is this the last gasp of a dying OS?

Windows Mobile will be alive for as long as HTC allows it to be.
is now wondering how vzn pro2 is diff than sprints
Verizon got top honors for the TP2 due to most Fortune 500 companies having Verizon as their provider.
TP2 should have been #1 but iPhone been selling for a lot longer and has a huge following among teen girls:)
Why is this being listed as news in December? The article says July 1st at the very top. There’s been a lot of phones releases since then that could have changed the result a little.

I wonder if this info was just released to the public? I know a lot of consumer reports’ information is only viewable for paying subscribers. Good catch though.

TP2′s were not even built yet in July….So how could consumer reports vote it as such a great phone when it wasnt even available yet until Sept?
I just want the software updates. Verizon’s been sleeping on this phone for the longest. No entertainment apps or software updates yet…and the phone’s been out for 3 months! They really need to show some love to the tp2 users.
Love my Verizon TP2. Nice to see it get credit. An office mate is getting the Droid on Monday and I am interested to see how they compare. I do agree that Big Red needs to get with it on the 6.5 upgrade and entertainment apps. They have FloTV in my area and would be willing to pay for it.
That’s great news. I’m happy to have a Verzion Touch Pro 2.
