PPCG Review: BookSync
![]() |
I had the opportunity to take this little app for a test drive. For only $0.99, how could you go wrong right? Well, unfortunately this app needs some work. The functionality worked great. It automatically matched up my contacts with my Facebook contacts (by matching names), and I had the opportunity to sync birthdays and names. It'll automatically sync the profile picture as well. If you have someone saved as a different name, you can easily do a manual match and pair them up yourself.
The GUI, however, needs major work, atleast on my VGA Touch Pro. Things were overlapped and hard to read and its not very finger-friendly at all. You can download the beta versions for free, or buy the final release versions for $0.99. From their website, it looks as though they're working on improving the GUI, which is much needed. Some of its features include:
I will give this a 2 out of 5 stars for the time being, in hopes that the GUI will be improved very soon. Buy it from the PPCG Store here for only $0.99!!! |

Um, just so you know, the new Resco Contacts lets you auto-sync your facebook contacts with your outlook contacts.
I’ve just resolved the issue with VGA… hopefully that will up my star rating.
Resco might do what I do but its a small fortune!
I also reviewed Resco Contacts, and I could never get the Facebook Sync to work.
I will check for a new version and see if it resolved my issues. Thanks!
Facebook sync works great on my Blackstone.. if you’re having problems.. I can try and help you (email me at nir36@012.net.il)
I’ve run into several problems. First, when it went to check for updates, it crashed saying it could not resolve the name. I then opened Opera to get internet connected and tried again… it found and updated to v1e.
I then launched that and it would not let me login. It just asked for name and password repeatedly. I closed down and tried to launch again, but it crashed. Finally on the 4th or 5th try, I got a screen that said no matches found. I pretty much figured it out from there, and things seem to be OK from there. I would recommend updating it to establish an internet connection if one does not already exist.
I might be missing something here.. but did you have a problem with the internet connection or with the facebook login? from what i understand.. once you got your data connection to work it worked?
Yeah, it does not automatically establish an internet connection. I had to open Opera to establish the internet connection. Once I did that, I stopped receiving the first error. Then, after I had already established an internet connection, it would not login to Facebook… kept wanting me to login over and over (I was using the same, correct info each time) It crashed a couple of times during that process, but did eventually work and I was able to sync. It has issues, but in the end, got the job done, and for $.99 I was relatively happy.
